Bible Prophecy Commentary – Signs in the Sun:
Almighty God has put the sun, moon and stars in place to be signs or signals to us to mark seasons for divine appointments in which He would meet with His people. Scriptures tell us that the Lord's second coming will be heralded by heavenly signs as described in Joel 2:31; Acts 2:20 and Rev 6:12. We should be paying close attention to what's happening above us.
The solar eclipse that will occur on Mar 20, 2015 lands on Nisan 1 of the Jewish or Hebrew calendar which is the start of their sacred or religious cycle. According to ancient customs, solar eclipses were thought to be an evil omen for Gentile nations and Blood Moons significant to events surrounding Israel and her people. Could it be that God is signaling that this total solar eclipse will bring calamities to the Gentile nations of the world? God deals with mankind from the Biblical calendar perspective and not from our Gregorian one; we must understand this to fully comprehend what He is telling us from the heavens. In past times many critical and disastrous world events have happened to Gentile peoples and to the Israelites so we should gather as much knowledge on these signs so as to alert others to their potential meanings.
We must listen to the scriptures for Peter warned, "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." -2 Pet 3:3-4 (KJV). There are plenty of these folks around and I assume that they will increase as the time draws nearer.
