Psalm 46 – “Be Still and Know That I Am God”

God Is Our Refuge, A Very Present Help in Time of Trouble

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2- Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3- though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah” -Psalm 46:1-3 (ESV)

Almighty God is with those who make Him your refuge and your strength. For those that live a life of holiness in the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in Him with all their heart, mind and soul, He will be with us every step of the way no matter what mountain we face.

War now plagues the planet with the onslaught of Russia and the Ukraine, tensions between the US and Russia have never been higher. Israel and Iran are about ready to duke it out. China any day now stands ready to wipe our Taiwan. Times are extremely concerning and this next war/s could be devastating. So in spite of all these negative things happening globally, where is your faith? In stuff or in the Almighty?

For those that profess and confess Christ as their Savior, repenting of their sin and claim Him as their Lord they are assured that He is with them every step of the way. How do we know this? Scripture says it many times. He promises to be with us in everything – in every storm, every turmoil, every circumstance – if we will but trust Him in all things. Not in just the good times, but the tough ones too. For He is in absolute control no matter what happens … anywhere. This fact must be an anchor solidifying our faith mooring it to our hearts and minds. For there is no reason to fear. Why? Take a look at Luke 12:6-7 with me for a moment…

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7- But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” -Luke 12:6-7 (KJV)

It says that He numbers even the hairs of our head. That’s how much He loves and cares for those that are His. IMO, not even one hair will be harmed if He does not approve or sanction it. Not one! Let this sink deep into your soul and reflect on it as often as necessary. Remember, His will will be done – Lord’s Prayer, Matt 6:9-13.

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth” -Psa 46:10 (KJV)

Put your full trust in Him friends with unwavering and steadfast faith.

Be still and know that He is God and there is no other. He loves us and says the Angel of the Lord will encamp around those that fear Him and He will deliver them – Psalm 34:7. This my friends, you can take to the bank. Just remember it’s His will that will be accomplished and not ours. Pray and seek Him with utmost sincerity and honesty in complete humility. He will hear us and He will do what is best for us. This is faith in action. This is trust in action. Do not speak words of doubt but speak words of deliverance, strength, protection … claim Psalm 91 over you and your family.

“The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” -Psalm 34:7 (KJV)

So do not fear, and do not be troubled. For fear is not from God – 2 Tim 1:7. Fear paralyzes you and immobilizes your faith. It should have not any root in the rock-solid believer’s life. Be strong and courageous for the Lord will be with you wherever you go – Josh 1:9.

“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” -Isa 26:3 (ESV)

Be at peace with God, set your mind on Him. Trust in the Lord!

Again, remember, be still and know that I am God, says the Lord God Almighty. Be calm inside and not driven by the winds and waves of newscasts and reports that paint a very bleak picture of what’s going on. The media is herding people into a corral of fear and worry, scrambling for everything but God. Be quieted and assured that our lives are in His hands 100%. Share this with others and help them build up their faith in Christ in this trying time. Share the Gospel as this is a perfect opportunity to tell others about the free gift of salvation and the Good News come down from heaven to a sin-ridden world.

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” -Rom 10:13 (ESV)

And please ensure you are right with God. If you only do one thing today … pray and seek His face. Ask forgiveness for your sin, then repent of it. Please ensure through your lifestyle that God knows your name and you know His. If you’ve drifted, come back. If you’ve backslid, return to Him. He is waiting at the door, please let Him in.

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” -Rev 3:20 (KJV)

Be blessed today beloved and let your assurance of salvation shine through what you do, say, and think.

Turn to Scripture to help you through this time and turn the TV down or off!

Rmember, God is still on the throne…don’t put your trust in mere men, or in your portfolio (wealth accumulations), or in your money or in ANY idol that you’ve set up pushing God off the throne of your life. Instead, turn to the Lord and put your full trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and in Him only.

Amen.

WARNING — Flee From the Wrath to Come!

Who, Me?

“But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” -Matt 3:7 (KJV)

Make no mistake for the Wrath of God is coming! John the Baptist was a fiery and no-kidding preacher, preaching repentance for the kingdom of God was at hand. He didn’t pull any punches nor did he soften the reality of God’s truths –  who He actually was and is today (Heb 13:8). So do we have any preachers today heralding this same message? I would say very, very, very few.

Who would think that a loving God – you know the one we’ve been taught about all our church-going lives, would actually send people to hell via His wrath? Where do you hear this type of message today. Who should hear it? All of us should!!

“Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” – Luke 3:7 (KJV)

John blasted the religious leaders on the day when they arrived to the baptism he was performing. John called them snakes (vipers) and asked them who told you about what’s coming for the unbelievers, the fakers, the false teachers (and we have a lot of these snakes masquerading as pastors in our churches right now!). You see John knew who they were and what they represented. We notice that John was slinging these tough words not only at the church leaders of the day but also at the people for in Luke 3:7, he also taught these things to all the people present. Bringing this home today, he was talking to the conservatives and liberals of our time. That’s the folks sitting in church pews every Sunday. And that’s the peeps attending church-sponsored Christian conferences, seminars, speeches, rallies, concerts and all kinds of events.

The Pulpit Pleasers-

LISTEN EVERYONE: You can believe this or not but nevertheless it’s true, most Christian churches deliver a softened Biblical message ripping the teeth out of the Gospel so as to leave in its place a “defanged” God, void of any anger, fury, wrath, or judgment. For churches today pour on plenty of the lovey-dovey stuff, with emphasis heavy on the mercy and grace of our Savior but void of the no-kidding truth of scripture – His wrath, anger, fury and judgment. We hear a non-offensive Gospel, unfortunately, by design. It’s our church leaders hidden agenda. Most pulpit pleasers do this so as to preserve their paychecks, their self-righteous dignity and their desire to have the congregants love them.

They promote their “church businesses”, at the expense of compromising the Gospel, to make sure they stay afloat. This is not love – this is a dislike of the Gospel, your soul and the Lord; they do this knowingly and will pay a hefty price when they stand before the Lord God Almighty!

Yep, tough and hard words but can you face the reality of the truth?

And they refuse to speak of the severity of God’s wrath and the impending judgment waiting to be downloaded on a sinful and unrepentant people. They are not showing their love and concern for their flocks but just the opposite. The religious “hypocrites” behind our pulpits fail to teach repentance mainly because they don’t practice it themselves.

Babes in the Pews, Happily Chugging Down the Milk and Pablum-

Most 0Christian churches today might as well pass out baby bibs and pints of warm milk at the door as the folks come in to hear and see the “show” because that’s all that’s offered there. We have many spiritual babies sitting in the pews drinking down only the milk of His Gospel; taught only the warm softened pablum of His word. Why? Because they only receive baby food rich in only the milk of the word – 1 Cor 3:2. They are not ready to receive the meat of the word for they haven’t matured in the Lord.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.” – Heb 5:12-13 (ESV)

You see Almighty God and church are not to be like a sports event, where people go to be entertained and to feel the heat of competition with chanted cheers for one team or another. And it’s not an emotional-only event … friends, this is a Holy, Righteous God we come to worship, not some pulpit hero. God in His love, mercy, kindness, grace and … judgment is not a game! He doesn’t play games or approve of fake (insincere) worship – Isa 1:14-16; Isa 59:2-3; Hos 6:6; Amos 5:22-24. Churchgoers – Christians, if you can call them that today, are not taking God seriously!

FOR MOST, THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD IN THE CHURCH OR IN THE PEOPLE THAT CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS!

You can go to church a million times a week, sing in the choir, lead a Bible study or small group, speak eloquently, even read your Bible (but not for understanding) and it won’t mean diddly unless you practice confessing your sins and engaging in sincere repentance. There are absolutely no alternatives or substitutes for this. These are elements of living a holy life before our God. If you do not do these things, you will not see the Kingdom of God – Luke 13:1-5, Heb 12:14. Seriously friends – the truth that all of us must face in this is that these types of churchgoers are headed directly for hell! Think this is untrue, read the Scriptures. (This repeated again below for it’s that important).

Listen to what the Bible says about fake Christians and those that don’t spend sincere time in knowing Him – “From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty” (Rev 19:14-15, ESV). He says in 2 Th 1:8-9, that He is coming “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9- Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” (KJV). Who hears this with understanding today. Do Christians take this seriously? Who wants to hear it? Do I, do you? Yes, I do!

Friends, do you get this? Do you hear this in your church? If you don’t, ask the pastor/s why? And if they can only offer excuses – get out of that place fast!!!

If You Call Yourself a Christian …

If you call yourself a Christian, it’s time to ‘Christian-up’ and know who God is. Know about Him, know His word. Know that the days ahead will get worse and not better. You had better fear Him as well and tremble at His word – this is not a game – 1 Pet 1:17. Know that His word says that terrible times are coming and if you are not prepared (but instead refuse to acknowledge this and keep your head firmly buried in the sand) you will probably “faint” in the days coming – Luke 21:26. (here’s the definition in Greek of the word faint – here).

Do not put your trust in false preachers that refuse to teach about the wrath of God. If John the Baptist preached about the wrath of God, who are we to disregard it? Do not put your trust in a religion or in men. Many people will be entering hell because they refuse to read their Bibles and know God and instead trust in idols, in the traditions of men and in false teachings. They don’t hear (or even want to hear) about their sin and therefore don’t repent.

One last thing John said after he ripped the heads off the leaders and the people. He said they must bear the “fruit of repentance” (Matt 3:8). So who repents these days? Do you? Do your leaders? Is it even taught? Do your research and examine that without repentance in your life – look out! I’m not talking about how much you attend church or how good you are or how many good things you do, I’m talking the meat and potatoes of sincere repentance before a Holy and Righteous God. You will find in Luke 13:1-5, the stark reality of the seriousness of repentance from Jesus’ own lips and what will happen to you if you don’t repent.

It’s time to get things right with God. I’m talking to me, to you and to the pastors and church leaders in our midst today. God is not playing games with His word. I’ll leave you with the severity of His word in the following verse… right.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” -Heb 4:12 (ESV)

Amen.

Do You Read Your Bible? “Faith Comes By Hearing and Hearing By the Word of God”

Do You Sincerely Hunger For God’s Word? But…

What if You Don’t?

“I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart” -Psa 40:8 (KJV)

Bible literacy is at an all time low in this nation and I expect around the globe. Christians will watch a plethora of TV shows and movies and play video games until their hands cramp up. They will also bang on their cell phones texting endlessly even way into the night but do they take the time to read the Bible? The answer is – few if that many.

We have a nation of Biblically illiterate people, a world of Biblically illiterate people that do not want to spend time in reading and knowing about Almighty God. I see it everywhere but let me pause for a moment and ask you personally – “Do you read your Bible?” and if so, how often? No really … can you faithfully say that you take the time to get away with God by reading His word without distractions? Do you read it daily, once or twice a week, maybe a couple of times a month or maybe, let’s be honest here … where-the-tire-hits-the-road … you actually don’t read it at all. Or you rationalize reading it until that last ember of light burns dimly from your day when your mind wanders and drifts endlessly with almost no concentration. In other words, you put God last in your life and other worldly things first … ?!?

Serious questions for Christians today for you see many Christians don’t set aside quality time to get to know our Creator God and understand Him. And this is a tragedy in itself. How can you say you’ll enjoy spending eternity with the Lord in praise and worship if you rarely do this here on earth?

I fully believe we are experiencing in America and abroad a global “famine”. A famine of the hearing and reading the word of God. Read about it, it’s prophetic! The Lord declared it in the Book of Amos and now today in 2024, it’s here.

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD, “When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the LORD.” -Amos 8:11 (NASB)

It’s crystal clear that Americans and the rest of the world don’t know God because they don’t read or hear the absolute truth of His written word. If they did read His word, and live by it this world would be totally better and not getting worse as it is today. The Book of Proverbs says it plain – “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” -Prov 1:7 (KJV). We can’t know God unless we learn about Him. How do we learn about things? By reading about them. How do we know who God is? We read about Him in His word – we continue in His word. Folks, the shocking part of this is that to be His disciple we must read His word and thereby know the truth and be set free from all false teachings, deceit and deceptions infecting the church and our culture today.

There is coming a time and I believe it is here where deception and deceit will cause many to fall away from faith in the Lord – His truth, His way, His purposes and His word. The Lord Himself warned us about this four times in Matt 24. People will be deceived because they are not aware of the truth. Whenever something is mentioned especially by the Lord multiple times it’s extremely significant and important and we’d better pay attention.

There is another serious question facing all of us Christians. Do we ‘despise’ or shun His word if we refuse to read it? Are we ashamed or embarrassed or disappointed by reading our Bibles and representing Almighty God?

Sobering questions … right?

Read the following verses and then carefully consider if we willfully reject reading His word then are we, in effect, really rejecting Him. And if we reject His word, are we really then a born-again Christian? IMO, there is absolutely no reason for any person with ready access to his or her Bible not to read it. If you are ignorant of His word then – Hos 4:5-6. I urge all who read this to get serious about this now!

“But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising His words, and scoffing at His prophets, until the LORD’s wrath was so stirred up against His people that there was no remedy.” -2 Chron 36:16 (KJV)

“…because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments…” -Amos 2:4 (KJV)

“To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it -Jer 6:10 (KJV)

Jesus knew there would come a famine of hearing His truth – His words – upon the land in the final days before He returned. This has to be because many will fall away from the faith and would rather listen to soft, non-convicting, entertaining, toothless and truth-less Gospel messages – 2 Th 2:1-3.

This is a set-up for the arrival of the Antichrist.

So people would not know the truth and instead fall for his lies and falsehood which will [and have] overtake people’s faith and cause them to fall away. It’s happening now and coming like a snowball gaining speed and mass going downhill. The deceptive days ahead and your knowledge of God’s truth will steer you towards God or unfortunately away from Him. This is your decision and your choice, so make it wisely.

Friends, where are you at today? Lots of people claim to be Christians – that’s the easy part. The hard part is striving to stay on the narrow road that leads to eternal life – Matt 7:13-14. And that requires knowing the Lord and knowing His truths. That means dedicated time each and every day to read His word – the Bible. The challenge for me and you is what do you want to do with what I’ve shared here today? Wake up or fall back into spiritual slumber?

Pastors … wake up and tell your flocks the importance of daily reading with understanding God’s word and the importance of having a real personal relationship with Jesus! STOP showing scriptures on big screen TV’s or screens! Encourage your flock to bring their Bibles to church and look up and follow along to what is being read/studied.

If you want to know about God, you’ve got to spend the time to read and follow the teaching in His word. You’ve got to do it – this is an absolute! No if’s, and’s or but’s. Today, we in America have an abundance of Christian resources to pick from (at least for now); certainly the availability of Bibles are everywhere. Christian Book Stores, the Internet, movies, broadcasting of “real” Christian teachers on the TV, etc. So now it’s your turn. Grab your Bible/s, open and start reading.

For new Christians or those wanting to know more, please start with the Gospel of John found in the New Testament. This is an excellent place to begin your journey with the Lord. But please, I urge you to start reading and knowing about the Lord and exactly who He is … today. As the days progress and Christian persecution, calamities and disasters advance here in America and around the planet, if you are without knowledge of Him, you most likely will succumb to worldly ways and fall away from the faith.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” -Rom 10:17 (KJV)

Friends, the times are getting down-right tough and so we must be grounded, founded and anchored in the Lord’s truth. We must bolster our faith and trust in Him by continuing in His word – the Bible. And then continue in prayer, in confessing your sin and then repentance. Then tell others.

God bless and amen.

Fear God and shun evil!
