How Often Do You Pray?

Where is your Prayer Closet?

“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.” -Matt 6:6 (NASB)

Before we begin I think it pertinent to describe that this message concerns not praying to just any God; e.g. Allah, Buddha, Baal, Mary, or any other of the thousands of false gods people worship these days. I am talking about praying to the one true God: to Almighty God – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, YAHWEH God, Jehovah God, Elohim, the Lord Jesus Christ, the God of the Bible.

So, the question this morning is how often do you get alone with Almighty God in serious and sincere prayer? Do you have a prayer closet or somewhere you go to go one on one with the Lord? Now I know some folks do actually have a closet they go into and pray. For others it may be another location but the point is we all need to have a regular place to come before the Lord in prayer and supplication presenting ourselves to Him so we can communicate, and He can talk to us as well. Let me add that this cannot be in front of the TV in at a commercial break. This can’t be while you are engaged in other activities; granted you can pray anytime but the prayer that I’m talking of today has to be genuine dedicated prayer, dedicated communication just between you and the Lord. This has to be a time where your mind is focused on the Lord so you can hear what He has to say to you. This is of major importance to any professing Christian today for many of the faith do not make it a practice to seek Him. Consider what the Apostle Paul said in the Book of Romans:

“There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.” -Rom 3:11 (HCSB)

Let me say that if you claim to be a Christian and do not spend time seeking the Lord in daily sincere prayer, it’s time to reevaluate your faith and position in God Almighty. Do you really know Him and does He know you? Luke 6:46.

The world is becoming increasing treacherous to Christians and highly disrespectful and rebellious to Almighty God. People in the Middle East are getting their heads chopped off for their faith. Others have been tortured for their stand in Christ. Here in the US, Christians are demeaned, persecuted and unjustly fined for their belief and stand in the teachings presented in the Bible and their faith in Jesus Christ. American justice has been perverted, twisted and turned against the God of the Bible. These are examples of real life and real-time events that call us to no-kidding prayer.

“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.” -Col 4:2 (HCSB)

When we pray we should pray several times a day seeking the Lord, inquiring of His guidance and direction in our lives. How often do you seriously seek the Lord? Only when you have a problem or are in trouble? Maybe at the end of the tiring day sitting in your easy chair watching TV while slowly dosing off to sleep? Or perhaps 5 min before you go to bed … ? How serious about and in prayer have you been? If you were to be given a score on your prayer life what would you get? An “A” or “C” or “F”?

You know prayer can also be in thanking the Lord for what He has blessed you with, and what He has done for you. How often do you really seek the Lord? C’mon now, how often? I’m not talking about just praying or sitting quietly at church while other things are going on. Can you say that you seek the Lord daily; can you say that you call on Him to help you understand His will for your life? Consider the following verse:

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” -Isa 55:6 (KJV)

What does this verse say to you and what does it tell you? Will there come a time when He won’t be found or won’t be near? Is this verse speaking that one day as you keep rejecting Him and His outstretched hand that by the hardness of your heart you may miss His presence or opportunity for salvation? As He calls to you and you keep stiff-arming Him will His Spirit not be found again by you? Gen 6:3. Or could this mean that we are to seek Him while we still are alive and before death where His voice, calling and nearness will not be found? However,0 you’d like to view it I think you would agree that the time to seek and call upon Him is now, today, right here.

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. ” -Psalm 145:18 (NASB)

Friends, we must seek the one true God. We must pray and call upon Him. We must get away and have periods of quiet time where we can shut off the world and listen to His still small voice – 1 Kings 19:11-13. This is a must for a professing, practicing and believing Christian wherever you are located. Prayer is something no man can strip from us. In these last days the urgency in prayer is even more crucial that ever before. The big question before you and me is do we pray with candor and do we pray in truth. God knows our hearts and measures us not by our minds but by our hearts -Jer 17:10 . So where are you at today?

I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” -Jer 17:10 (KJV)

Are You Prepared For The Cataclysmic Earth Changes That Are On The Way?

Editor’s Note: Holy Scripture tells us what the signs will look like in the end days. But are you looking, listening and seeing?

“There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting from fear and the expectation of the things that are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken” -Luke 21:25-26 (NASB)

Are You Prepared For The Cataclysmic Earth Changes That Are On The Way?

By Michael – Nov 16, 2023

An absolutely massive volcanic eruption in Russia has created a cloud of dust and ash that is a thousand miles long.  Yeah, that is “normal”.  In recent days we have also seen a spectacular eruption of lava at Mt. Etna in Italy, volcanic activity has caused a brand new island to emerge off the coast of Japan, and thousands of people have been forced to evacuate in Iceland as volcanic magma races to the surface near the town of Grindavik.  If you understand the period of world history that we are living in, then you already know that what we are experiencing now is just the tip of the iceberg.  Unfortunately, the vast majority of the population is completely and utterly unprepared for the apocalyptic “Earth changes” that are rapidly approaching.

Personally, I was stunned when I heard about what was taking place in Russia.

I knew that there had been an eruption, but I didn’t know that it had actually created a cloud of dust and ash that is 1,000 miles long

Eurasia’s tallest volcano has violently erupted, throwing a 1,000-mile-long (1,600 kilometers) cloud of dust and ash into the air, new NASA satellite images show.

Klyuchevskoy, sometimes referred to as Klyuchevskaya Sopka, is an active stratovolcano in Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, which is home to more than 300 other volcanos. Klyuchevskoy’s peak stands at 15,584 feet (4,750 meters) above sea level, making it taller than any other volcano in Asia or Europe, according to the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT).

Eruptions of this magnitude have the potential to dramatically affect the climate of the entire planet.

On November 1st, the cloud of dust and ash from this eruption actually reached a maximum height of seven and a half miles

Klyuchevskoy has been continually erupting since mid-June. But on Nov. 1, a massive volcanic explosion released a torrent of smoke and ash, which reached a maximum height of 7.5 miles (12 km) above Earth’s surface, according to NASA’s Earth Observatory.

This is serious.

But because it is happening in Russia, most people in the western world simply do not care what is happening.

Meanwhile, rapidly rising magma is now only about 500 meters from the surface near the town of Grindavik, Iceland

A huge nine-mile long magma intrusion, just northwest of Grindavik, has formed and is growing, according to experts, with magma thought to be as close as 500 metres from the surface.

Just a few days ago, experts were saying that magma was accumulating three miles below ground, but it has now risen much closer, if estimates are correct.

‘At this stage, it is not possible to determine exactly whether and where magma might reach the surface,’ the Meteorological Office said.

I hope that everyone is long gone from that area by now, because it appears that a major eruption could be imminent.

Prior to being evacuated, local residents could literally hear “thunder in the ground” as rapidly moving magma caused earthquake after earthquake to happen right under their feet…

Residents in Iceland fear homes in the evacuated town of Grindavik could be ‘frozen in time like Pompeii’ should they be covered in lawa.

British Expat Anne Sigurdsson, 66, moved to Iceland from Carlisle seven years ago with her husband Siggi, 63. She told the Mirror: ‘This island could be ripped apart. We fear Grindavik could end up frozen in time like Pompeii.’

She said she could hear the heavy earthquakes plaguing the area before she could feel them, describing them as ‘thunder in the ground’.

Unfortunately, this could be just the beginning of Iceland’s problems.

According to one volcanologist, what we are currently witnessing could be part of “a new eruptive phase” which could possibly last for hundreds of years…

Iceland’s looming volcano blast is just the beginning of a new era of volcanic eruptions that will last for centuries, with the build-up of magma beneath the coastal town of Grindavik signalling that more is to come, scientists have warned.

The Fagradalsfjall volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula is threatening to erupt, with Iceland’s Met Office saying that the ‘likelihood of a volcanic eruption is high’ and could happen at anytime in the coming days.

After 800 years of inactivity, a 2021 eruption marked the start of a new cycle of volcanic activity, and now Cambridge volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer, says that blast may have kicked off ‘a new eruptive phase’ which could last centuries.

Of course it isn’t just Iceland that is seeing unusual seismic activity.

According to the Smithsonian Institute’s Global Volcanism Program, 19 volcanoes are erupting all over the globe right now, but that list “doesn’t include all erupting volcanos”

The Smithsonian Institute’s Global Volcanism Program tracks new eruptions and updates its list of currently erupting volcanos on Wednesdays. The most recent update shows three new eruptions, bringing the list’s total to 19 eruptions at once. The list doesn’t include all erupting volcanos.

The new volcanic eruptions have some people voicing their concerns on social media.

“Volcanoes erupt simultaneously in Italy, Iceland, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Philippines, etc. Below is a volcanic activity map of 2013 vs 2023. Totally normal, right?” one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Sadly, the changes that are happening to our planet will greatly accelerate during the months and years that are ahead of us.

So are you ready?

Are you prepared for truly cataclysmic Earth changes?

One recent survey discovered that 34 percent of Americans “believe they can be the sole survivor of the apocalypse”…

A third of Americans (34%) believe they can be the sole survivor of the apocalypse, a new survey reveals. The poll of 2,000 U.S. adults looked at how this would be the case and found that these respondents believe they’d outlast everyone because of their strong survival skills (54%) and adaptability (53%).

Three in 10 see themselves as the “underdog” of the apocalypse, while more respondents believe they’re the “top dog” who would undoubtedly survive it all (33%). According to Americans, the ideal “survival team” they would build to get through the apocalypse includes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (43%), Chuck Norris (36%), Superman (33%), John Cena (26%), and MacGyver (23%).

To me, that survey makes it very clear that Americans have been watching way too much television.

This isn’t a game.

Life on Earth Is But a Vapor But Eternity is Forever! So Where Will You Go?

Your Body Goes to the Grave But Your Soul …

Will it Go to Heaven or Hell?

“Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.” -James 4:14 (NASB)

Recently I read of a person whose mother experienced a massive cerebral hemorrhage presumably without notice and survived enough to arrive at the hospital. Brain scans revealed massive bleeding, she had no cognitive ability and the neurosurgeons had little if no hope for any successful surgery. This is truly sad, and my prayers go out to her family. Yes, but how many other countless stories like this have we heard over the years? The gravity of this account and others like it should shake us all back to the reality that there is instant death, an eternity and there is a heaven and hell, and we must take steps now to ensure we are ready to meet and stay with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The opening verse above states the reality of the duration of our life here on earth. We are just a vapor, a puff of smoke considering this life and the one to come in eternity. We are here for a very short time and then we are gone.

Take a look at what Jesus said about our lives and what is important while we are yet here. Luke 13:3-5…

“Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” – Luke 13:4-5 (ESV)

The tower fell and men were killed seeming in an instant. Jesus focused in on what is the one thing we can do while here on earth to secure our eternal destination. Repent! Or … perish in hell.

No one, absolutely no one regardless of position, status, wealth or anything is guaranteed time to prepare beforehand for their death. It could come slowly or instantaneously. For this reason, we must keep this in focus each and every day of our lives.

The abrupt end of life is in front of us all every minute of the day and so we must be constantly ready to enter eternity with this in mind. Once you depart this life, you and I will enter the next. No negotiations, no courts, no lawyers, no purgatory, and no second chances – see the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31.

The decisions we all make while here and, in the body, will set in motion and seal our eternal fate/destination! And so we must make and stick by our critical decision to serve the Lord, confess and repent of our sin and claim, identify and profess the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior – Rom 10:9-10, Rom 10:13, Acts 4:12.

For today is the day of salvation and salvation is found in NO other name than that of the Lord – 2 Cor 6:2

The importance of this day is paramount to all of us right now. We must without fail seek the Lord and receive His free gift of salvation. Who knows … some of us may not even make it to tomorrow.

“Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring.” -Prov 27:1 (NASB).

Yes, these are not pleasant things to talk about and I dare say that most churches refrain from even mentioning things of this nature but they must be said! For our eternity hangs in the balance of being informed of the true Gospel and the truth in what it says whether lovely or terrible.

The importance of this day lies in the reality of our priorities and decisions concerning eternal life.

Keep in mind, eternity is but a heartbeat or breath away. It’s hidden behind the veil of this life and then … it’s there and waiting … the Lord is waiting for you today to seek Him and surrender your life to Him … now, today! DO not seek the things here on earth for they are …

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20- But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21- For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” -Matt 6:19-21 (KJV)

Center your mind on the things of heaven. Grab your Bible and read about it. I like what the Apostle Paul said when he described a “person he knew” that visited heaven … 2 Cor 12:2-3. Friends, seek the Lord, seek Him today, secure your place in His Kingdom by following clear and easy instructions found in Romans 10:9-10. It’s that simple! He loves us more than we know but He is also just and judgment will fall on those who reject Him and obey not the Gospel. Amen
