A Nation Under Judgment
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” 9- And He said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on listening, but do not understand;
And keep on looking, but do not gain knowledge.’
10- Make the hearts of this people insensitive,
Their ears dull,
And their eyes blind,
So that they will not see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts,
And return and be healed.” -Isa 6:8-10 (NASB)
We find the above Scripture in the Book of Isaiah, a major prophet of the Old Testament. His calling occurred around 742BCE. He was anointed and sent to the rebellious people of ancient Judah and surrounding nations. Judah was to feel God’s judgment upon immoral and idolatrous men.
It is this author’s opinion that America is or could be progressing along the same path as these ancients. Why? It’s because America has sunken into the mire of gross sin, a cesspool of wickedness and evil never seen before in American history. Our governmental leaders are corrupt to the core and are incapable of seeing any farther than the insanity of their lawless decisions, plans and directions. They are wicked men and women! God Almighty sees this and has seen it for a very long time now. From funding abortion to promoting unnatural living. America, as a nation, IMO is now doomed. However … there is still remnant of people that still hear, see and practice Godliness and live according to the statutes and commandments of God.
In researching for this message today, I came across John MacArthur’s sermon notes on this Scripture and in my book, in my opinion, he’s hit the nail on the head.

“In verse 9, the Lord accepts his offer: “Go, and tell this people. Go tell them.” Tell them what? Listen to the message, verse 9, “Keep on listening, but do not perceive; keep on looking, but do not understand. Render the hearts of this people insensitive, their ears dull, their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed.” What?
“Go tell them”—here’s the message—“it’s too late. You wouldn’t listen, you wouldn’t see, you wouldn’t believe; and now you can’t.” Do you see that? “Tell them it’s too late. Tell them, ‘You can keep listening, keep looking, but you will not perceive, and you will not understand. Your hearts are insensitive, your ears are dull, your eyes are dim, so that you cannot see, you cannot hear, you cannot understand, you cannot return, and you cannot be healed.’ Tell them it is too late; judgment is already in motion.””
Yes, this is hard to swallow but this is what, I believe, the Lord meant to a highly rebellious people that have heard the word of God all the time, they’ve seen His miracles, witnessed His goodness but yet continued to rebel, sin and grow even more rebellious. This is America today!
But it doesn’t end here with ancient Judah, it now continues with Jesus quoting the same verses in Matt 13:14-15. So it was also happening in Jesus’ day and now in our day.
What do we do?
Pray and seek Almighty God today! We should all strive to get our lives right with God. Receive His free gift of salvation and live a life holy and acceptable unto Him. The time is getting later and later.
The Lord gave us warning of what to watch for in the days before He returns – in Matt 24, Mark 13, Luke 17 and 21 and in many other places in the OT and NT. But who’s watching? The churches? I don’t think so… when have you heard of a church that preaches Godly living, conviction of sin and repentance? To say nothing about prophecy. IMO, our churches are nothing but weak, feeble sickly warriors for Christ. There are many that attend that are just playing church and the things of God.
So as the churches fail in their mission for Christ, our nation grows more and more lawless. Just consider all the insanity around the illegal immigrants crossing our open borders and bringing in more lawlessness, diseases, crime and Godless cultures. We are in fact being invaded!! And the church says … Crickets!! Nothing, notta, zilch!
This is sickening and God sees it all. Remember, what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah? Also consider that America (a once Godly nation, super blessed by God) does not seem to be in the pages of Scripture in the last or end days?
Seek the Lord people. Seek Him with all your heart, mind and soul. .
