Will You Face an Open or Closed Door?
“And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain— 2- for He says, “At a favorable time I listened to you, And on a day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “a favorable time,” behold, now is “a day of salvation”—:” -2 Cor 6:1-2 (NASB, emphasis added)
Early one cold dark morning this past week I was watching a pet sitting outside a front door of a residence nearby. It was starring at the front door and crying seemingly wanting to enter its master’s house. This scene continued for some time and there was no response from the presumed owner nor did the dark, dimly lit door open and let the pet in. All was silent and you could feel the sadness of the animal that thought it had a home but now was left to fend for itself in an ugly, violent and unfriendly world.
Friends, Jesus gives us several parables of this type of abandonment in the New Testament. We hear of the ten virgins in Matt 25 – 5 wise and 5 foolish. When the Bridegroom came the wise, prepared ones, were allowed to go in. The 5 foolish were not prepared and by the time they finally got it right, the door of the wedding feast was closed in their faces not to enter, no way.
Another can be found in Luke 13:-28. Please read this. Strive to enter through the narrow door the Lord says for one day the Master of the House will arise and shut the door. The ones left outside will begin to stand at the closed door and knock and say Lord please open the door. (Mind you, these are Christians saying this for they have called Him Lord). However, the reply will come forth saying, “I don’t know where you come from, depart from me all you workers of evil“. This is sobering reading it now even before this time occurs and if you are not stirred in your heart and soul over these words, then I recommend strongly you reevaluate your faith in Christ ASAP!
One day the door to salvation in Jesus Christ will be shut and those that failed to believe in Him, disregarded the truth for a lie will be shunned and the door will be closed in their faces. They will be left to fend for themselves like the poor pet I described above. Only this time they will be trying to survive the perils of the Seven year Tribulation. A time of intense, miserable and life and death struggles. The Lord said that this time would be worse than any the world has ever seen from the foundations of the world.
“For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.” -Matt 24:21 (NASB)
Folks, it’ll be bad, real bad.
So the question is where are you at today with the Lord? Are you with Him or against Him? Your lifestyle and belief system called faith will dictate which side of the door you will end up on. For according to God’s word there are ONLY evil people and righteous people. There are only the saved and the unsaved. You are either with the Lord or against Him. No fence sitters will be allowed in, in fact, the Lord will vomit you out of His mouth. Again very sobering words to be rethought each and every day.
Are you saved today? I mean really saved!! Bought by the Blood of the Lord shed for you at the Cross? Is your life a direct reflection of the Lord in thought, word and deed? Do you live a holy and righteous life? Do you pray confessing and repenting of your sin daily? Are both of your hands on the plow never wanting to look back at the world (Luke 9:62)? (And do you remember Lot’s wife?).
It’s time to reflect on these things and make some perhaps u-turns in your life, I know I need the same thing. It’s time to get all right with God and let your faith glorify the Son daily. DOn’t be left looking at the slammed shut door you could have so easily entered.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22- Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23- Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’:” -Matt 7:21-23 (NIV)
