The Things People Trust in the Most are Being Shaken

“Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.” -Heb 12:26 (KJV)

This nasty, infectious and deadly virus is changing lives and cultures all over the world – everywhere. People are in lock-down or stay at home situations, some for months already and yet they tell us more is to come. Jobs are being lost in record numbers – 22 million in just the US alone. Economies are being shattered and governments just keep pumping money into a seemingly endless black hole. So what does all this mean and will it ever end?

“If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;” -2 Chron 7:13 (KJV)

Many have said that things will never return to normal. Never again will we experience the life we had just a few months ago. And this could very well be true. People are changing – keeping their distance from you, now wearing masks and some just don’t want to be bothered with one another. Prophecy sign – the love of many will wax cold – Matt 24.

So what do we do? Where do we go as things seem to be worsening? Or as this virus seems to be lessening in some areas, will it return if we ease up on the rules of social distancing?

Lots of questions … but not too many answers.

However, I have a Biblical solution to this pestilence and it can be found in God’s Word.

Pray! Just pray, confess our sin and repent calling out to God to help and save us from this.

We can find an example of this “solution” in the Book of Numbers.

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live.” -Num 21:8 (NASB)

Moses again played a significant role when the people angered the Lord with their rebellion, complaining and blatant and outright unrighteousness in God’s eyes – Num 21. God sent fiery serpents to bite the people and take them out.  The people cried out to the Lord and confessed their sin and the Lord ended the plague.

“And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.” -Num 21:7 (ESV)

IMO, this is the solution to the COVID-19 “plague”, in our time. Several times throughout the Word of God, if the people strayed away from God and did their own thing forgetting about Him worshiping other gods (fornication) and worshiping and serving idols – gold, silver, precious metals, wealth, 401k’s, TV, Internet, smart phones, video games, computers, jobs, homes, churches, clergy, cars, social status and the list goes on and on – He tried to bring them back to Him by afflicting them with pestilences, beasts, wars, cultural unrest, storms, economic woes, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. God did these things to help them/us learn righteousness, the righteousness and holiness of a Holy and just God…

“My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. -Isa 26:9 (ESV)

Today, there are several Moses’, if you will, trying to sound the call telling people to return to Him. Through many types of teaching methods – TV, internet, YouTube, etc.

My point is that we need to call out … to cry out to God for deliverance from this deadly virus that has afflicted the entire planet. But I don’t hear much of this going on – perhaps a few in the US but not many. Many people, Christians alike, are trusting in government $$$ handouts and what others can do for them when they (me too) should be trusting and looking to God to free us from this devastation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” -2 Chron 7:14 (KJV)

If nations, presidents, prime ministers, leaders would just lead their people to call upon God, [sincerely] turn from their sin and repent then I believe Almighty God would stop this pestilence and heal our land.

So let’s get going and do this – in our lives, in our homes, in our churches, in our communities, in our states, country and nation. President Trump and Congressional leaders – ARE YOU HEARING THIS??

God Almighty is SHAKING the world and removing those things that people trust in more than Him. Remember, He is our Creator and we are here only because He formed us and gave us life. Please pray friends, the Lord wants us to call upon Him and return to Him.

“Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:” -Heb 12:25-26 (KJV)
