A Diluted and Sugar-Coated Gospel

The Gospel Truth is Watered Down and Easy to Swallow

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22- Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23- And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” -Matt 7:21-23 (NASB)

I dare say that most Christian churches preach and teach a Gospel that’s easy and pleasing to hear, tickling the ears if you will. There is little (almost extinct now) teaching about sin and repentance. Churches are less interested in your soul and more interested in how many are there, their church growth (empire building) and how many laughs they can get from their diluted sermons.

According to last days prophecy, there will be a great falling away of those of the faith -2 Th 2:1-3. And we see this ever-increasing right now. It doesn’t have to mean those that don’t go to church but more to mean those that don’t have any desire for God, His Son and His word and there are tons of these kind of “Christians” in the church today, every Sunday.

The message of the cross has been marginalized, reduced in importance, diminished, and in some areas trampled underfoot. The cross of Jesus Christ is God’s power, mercy, grace and love to those who are being saved. God is love but He is also a God of wrath! In fact, to those that play with God and the things of God, His wrath is being revealed from heaven against all those who engage in unrighteousness. Yes and that means unbelief!

Many church attendees have been dumbed-down into thinking that the Lord only needs a superficial one-time prayer inviting Jesus into their hearts. This is a false and diluted and twisted form of the Gospel and is not found in God’s word … anywhere! It is bold-faced deception. This simple one-time prayer will not save you. The preachers and evangelists that peddle this untruth, this lie, are in effect leading more people to Hell than into God’s rest. Consider Jesus’ own words to such people [as the Pharisees] in Matt 23:15. (The eight woes to the Pharisees). Again, a pattern of the past is occurring in the here and now. Just replace the title Pharisees (religious leaders) with the pastors and preachers who practice such teaching today.

Romans 10:9-10 is the equation of what it takes to be saved and that requires action on the believer’s part.

Bottom-line friends, and as Jesus Himself said in Luke 13:1-5, without repentance, the amending of your ways, the turning away from sin, you will perish.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” -Luke 13:3 (ESV)

This is absolutely serious business! Sin and repentance are critical elements of the Christian faith and are required to be followed. This is the Lord’s will for those who ID as Christians.

Jesus first sermon was on repentance – Matt 4:7, therefore it is of utmost importance that we pay heed to it. Additionally. John the Baptist preached continually that you must repent – Matt 3:1-2. In light of these Scriptures, how do we think that we will escape the wrath of God by not obeying His whole word? We won’t!!

The Gospel message being preached in our so-called Christian churches even today, are laced with koolaide content and filled with sugar making the Gospel [hard] truths easy to swallow and easy to digest. And this recipe for making people feel good at each church service instead of teaching the hard solid truths is leading people to hell.

Do not be caught in this neatly crafted web of deceit that most modern preachers weave. They want your money and they want your attendance to stay competitive in the Christian circles they frequent. Instead, know the truth and be set free (John 8:31-33). Read your Bible, pray so that you will know the false teaching from the real truth. This will increase as we approach His coming and so all the more urgency you and I must give to knowing God and His Word.

The truth of Gods word is not an easy road to stay on. In fact, Jesus said that we should “STRIVE” to stay on His narrow road (Matt 7:13-14), which means it takes work (not works) on our part. And right in your face He says that there will be few (did you hear that?), few that find it…

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14- Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” -Matt 7:13-14 (NKJV)

Please pay attention to these words today. Look these things up for yourself, and pray about them. Confront your church leaders and ask them why you aren’t being taught the real solid truths of the Bible. If they have no answers or claim they are right in what they teach (the sugar coated Gospel), flee that place.

Seek God and Him only. Know Him for in this He delights in this – Jer 9:24.

“But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.” -Jer9:24 (NKJV)

Are you saved right now? Seek the Lord while He may be found – Isa 55:6-7.

“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” -2 Peter 3:11-12
