No Conviction of Sin, No Godly Sorrow, No Repentance, No Holiness Equals … No Salvation
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:” -Acts 17:30 KJV)
Whew, did you read those titles? Kinda sets you back in your seat a bit. Are they truth or just a rant against today’s pastors, priests or bishops? I say truth and lots of it! Before we begin today, I challenge all who read this to prove me wrong in anything I write here. Be a Berean as Paul descries in Acts 17:11. Search out the scriptures and know what’s truth and what’s not.
We have prideful “cowards” teaching us from our Christian church pulpits these days and they are leading many astray. They resemble cunning foxes that do all they can to lead people away from the truth presented in the Word of God – the Bible. How can I say this? Why do I say this? Because most are afraid of offending those who attend their churches with the no-kidding truth in God’s word. They are in effect cowards afraid of teaching and preaching the full council of the Lord – Acts 20:27.
How many Christians can say they read and study their Bibles daily? And how many can say they have a deep love and craving to know God more? How many Christians want the truth preached to them even if it hurts? These cowards or non-offensive pastors in our churches do little to tell us these things but are keen on luring in big crowds to hear tickling ear sermons full of laughing and entertainment style of teaching.
How many teach about sin, Godly sorrow, repentance or holiness? These things are critical to yours and my understanding of God and what He teaches us through the pages of scripture. How many of you attend large churches seemingly growing by the Sunday? How about mega-churches … do you attend one of these? Ever hear teaching on your sin or that you have to repent?
Let me make a blanket statement about our modern day churches. If you are not impacted by the teaching that goes on there the majority of the times you attend, can I say you’re in the wrong place. Many Christians attend church for the social club environment only. They care little about the reason the church is supposed to exist and what’s supposed to be preached there. Let’s recall the preaching in the New Testament. Did Jesus draw huge crowds that sincerely wanted to know Him more? Did the Apostles? I don’t believe so. The four and five thousand He fed were there mainly for the vittles and afterwards left Him. Even some of His own disciples departed from Him when the teaching got too tough.
How about your church and pastor/s? Do they teach about sin, conviction of sin and most importantly repentance? If they are not, you’re in the wrong place. Seek out a full Bible-believing and teaching church. Let me say that if they did teach these things there most likely would be a mass exodus out the doors. Very few would be left in the seats. That’s why I say we have cowards (or non-offensive) preachers teaching the flocks today. Most preachers live for their paychecks and care little about winning souls to the Kingdom of God (Prov 11:30).
Tough words today, but oh so true. So what will you do with this brief teaching? Continue on attending the your local social club of a church or stand up and tell the preachers we want the whole Gospel of truth. No lies, no pretending, the truth that will save our souls and prepare us for eternity. If you are not living a life of repentance and holiness God’s word says you will perish and not see the Kingdom of God – Luke 13:1-5; Heb 12:14

It’s time to get right with God. It’s time to know Him; reading and studying your Bible daily. It’s time to face the reality of eternity and where you will go when your name is called. You see many Christians are encased in the cares of this world and care little about God other than for a hour or so at church and even there they may not hear the truth of the Gospel. And/or they daydream or doze off or are thinking about the activities yet to come after church. Don’t rely on your preacher to be the sole source of what you hear about God. Search the scriptures yourself. The preachers in our Christian pulpits or deceivers or false prophets will stand tall before the Lord one day and give an account of their lack of caring for their flocks and teaching the seriousness of the Gospel. They will receive a stricter judgment – James 3:1.
Seek the Lord folks, seek Him while He can be found. Today!
