America’s 2016 Presidential Race – Where’s Almighty God in The Mix?

Election Editorial:

The debates, the moderators, the candidates, the networks, the issues, the stages, the followers, the critics and the problems but where is God?

"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." -Judges 21:25 (KJV)

Today, we are being inundated with Presidential candidate news in overdrive. This is, to say the least, daunting and in some cases nothing but high-schoolish in rhetoric. Some news is good while most is disturbing.  As these candidates especially in the RNC go toe-to-toe with one another in sparring, fighting, intimidating, rubbing others noses in the dirt, etc, we Americans are faced with a challenging and arduous decision of who'll we'll elect as our new President.

These days the TV is replete with endless news broadcasts showing how the candidates stack up; what they believe and who they really are. I mean it is endless – night after night. (While the world is on fire with global economics in meltdown, the Middle East in war and Christians being killed daily, we here in America focus on this 2016 race like it's the only news in town).  Even some reports display TV show hosts launching verbal spears of satirical 'comedy' (or so they claim) at some of the candidates, oh yes, but in 'good' fun. Horse hockey! Is this still America – the land of truth and freedom, of respect and honor??? A land that once paid attention to Godly values and virtues. Hardly so these days. America has become a sin-drenched land with almost no regard for God.

"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." -Prov 14:34 (KJV)

So we have a gaggle of candidates from both sides of the fence – republican and democrat and some are pretty self-righteous. They make no bones about puffing themselves up proclaiming how their greatness in performing feats of astounding business and political grandeur have made them the right person for this nation's highest honor. But where's God in the equation?

Let's not forget about the nightly news talking heads going round-and-round with their political analysis and predictions of how they (the candidates) will stand up and how they rank in the polls and who may get the illustrious position of party nominee. There are incessant hours of news discussions of candidates plastered all over mainstream and alternative (Internet) news sources. They pit one against another in what was said and how it may be interpreted. Pretty news faces bring to us a wealth of interviews and guest appearances that say this and that about how this candidate was wrong or right or the clear unfairness brought against them. Their are even candidates with not so good credentials and somewhat questionable work performances running for our nation's highest prestigious office. And still others that would have America roll up in a ball and hide from its enemies. We have countless contentious confrontations with candidates on their faith, values, virtues and where they really stand on the hard core issues. But where does God stand out and shine fully regardless of the ridicule? Perhaps in one of them…

"The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts." -Psalm 10:4 (KJV)

And then there's the dreaded polls. Oh, the endless, ever-changing polls and how they should be interpreted and what the outcome will be. Who's ahead of who and by how much and the eternal speculation of how they will turn out. Endless analysis, monotonous predictions, and countless charts. Come on now, doesn't anyone see how absolutely pathetic this is! Yet who's asking God what HE thinks? Who's seeking His face? Which one of our candidate roundup is praying and encouraging others to as well – and I mean this to be done in public?

So where is Almighty God in all this? Where does He stand out in candidates speech and actions and who do they really honor? Is the Lord being discussed with urgency and priority in the midst of all their analysis, discussions, debates and TV appearances? Our nation is coming apart at the seams militarily, socially, publicly, etc and today we need Him. Where is the importance of inviting God to attend and be with these men and women, guiding their direction and the values on which they stand? Where is the 'God-effect' or 'God factor' in their platforms? I'll tell you where … no where! God, the Lord Great and Mighty, is rarely mentioned and never given any place of importance in any of these candidates thinking, platforms, speeches, interviews (save maybe one). Oh yes, there is a mention here and there but nothing like putting God first in their desire to be President. That they would bring back national prayer and prayer in schools and elsewhere. That the statutes erected years ago, now removed, are restored showing once again that people, cities, and states honor a Living God. Where is God in their midst?

"What we need is more of Almighty God in our political processes. And I mean Yahweh God!. We need Him now more than ever: in our economy, our society, our churches, our public and private lives. And you know folks, this nation needs a Godly leader! One who knows their Bible and one who will stand up with a strong hand to our adversaries and claim the power and authority of Almighty God over and in our nation. We need to invite Him into our lives totally and without debate. This is what will make America return to the strong nation it once was."  – Phil Allen

Candidates seem to care primarily about upping one another and making sure that America knows their track-record in politics or business. I'd like to see one of these prolific speakers bring their Bible to the debates and place it right on their speaking stand where all 20+ million viewers can see it and therefore know where they stand in their faith for real! Most talk big about it but let's see some action – put feet to your faith.  For Christ has told us that if you don't stand with Him then you stand against Him – Matt 12:30. So who considers this in this highly publicized national concern? I venture to say … very few. If America does not stand with God, then we will take a stand against Him and this will not bode well for America. It is my firm belief that for many years now we have stood against God and look now what is occurring in and to our nation – confusion, fighting, race riots, crime, killing, abortion out of control, porn, welfare off the charts, and on and on it goes.

A charge to all the Presidential candidates in this 2016 race.

Put Almighty God first and foremost in your speeches, in your platform, in your thoughts both on and off the campaign trail and 100% in your life. Be Godly transparent – let people see that you know, honor and serve the Lord first and foremost. Let people know that the Lord God Almighty is Sovereign and He is the guiding force behind all you do. Then you will have what you need to be a Godly man or woman that will bring a fresh new Biblical vision and leadership to this now Godless nation. This is what we most desperately need and we need it now!
