Callous Hearts Before a Holy God
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;" -1 Tim 4:1-2 (KJV)
Our cultures and societies today are being torn apart by the magnitude of our sin and iniquities before a Holy and Righteous God. Just look around you – look at the lawlessness, greed, the absolute madness for idols – cell phones, computers, tablets, houses, cars, careers, wealth. Most care little for or about God and have charted our course in the way of humanism which seems to be the 'new' philosophy gripping this earth. This world has decided it knows better than the Creator Himself – Almighty God – who established and created everything. Yet we in our infinitely great wisdom infected by the wisdom of mankind have gone our own way and done our own thing. And because of this our planet is in trouble. Turmoil is all around – hate, persecution, wars, terrorism, killing, sexual immorality, nature is dismay, etc. And so what have we done – we continue on in our own ways and wisdom dissing God, His Son, His Holy Spirit and stiff-arming them all. We no longer stand in the front of the mirror and point at ourselves as the problem – instead we blame others.

So in doing our own thing many have decided they don't need the Bible and the wisdom therein and have changed lanes to the wide or broad road which will lead to destruction – Matt 7:13-14. But why is all this happening? For one thing it's prophesied in the last days, for another men don't want God anymore instead they want to hear things that are smooth and tickle their ears. In other words, they want it their way, not to be told they sin or even that sin is still relevant for modernity. So many of our Christian churches have become socialized houses of fun, comedy and entertainment. Think I'm wrong…? Let me ask you directly, for those that go to church anywhere – when was the last time you wept in church when the pastor or priest told you about your sin and the impact it has on you, on Christ and your relationship with Him? When was the last time your preacher preached to you how God looks at sin? How about this … when was the last time you repented of your sin? Tough questions, yes, I know and these are realities we all need to face right here and right now.
"But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels." -Psa 81:11-12 (KJV)
Currently, we listen to a lot of junk both in and out of church, easy to listen to stuff which is un-impacting and unmotivating to know more about God and Jesus Christ and how the Holy Spirit moves in our lives. We have in effect started listening to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils – false Gospels, false teachers spewing false teaching, unBiblical lies – smooth things – that have seared our hearts and minds to the real truths presented and recounted over and over in God's word. Seared and numbed to the [hard] truths of the Gospel our hearts have become hardened to hearing from God and hearing the truth found in His word. Think I'm just making this up? Challenge questions: How often each week do you read your Bible? How much time do you spend in front of the TV and/or watching movies, and/or talking to others about God's free gift of salvation and His forgiveness of sin? How much time do you spend in prayer and thanksgiving?
"That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:" -Isa 30:9-10 (KJV)
How do you know what's truth and what's false? You must know your Bible, you must spend time with God in prayer, in communication and in reading His word. Without these you will most certainly succumb to false teaching, seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Many will fall from the faith in these last days for just these reasons – their minds will have been seared, scorched, branded with worldly cares and concerns – stuff. They no longer turn to Christ, they no longer want Him in their midst. Without Him you will open yourself up to deceiving, wicked, evil demonic forces that desperately want to destroy you and make your eternal destination hell. They don't want you to know about your sin and its impact on your relationship with God. They don't want you to know that it takes sincere repentance to enter His rest. Lies, more lies, deception, deceit and false teachings will tear you away from Godly living, Godly thoughts, Godly talk and holiness. Bottom line: Flee from churches and their teachers and preachers that do not teach about sin, repentance, Godly sorrow and salvation. These are the repeated truths found in scripture! Jesus taught of them many times and if He did, we should. Are you saved today?
