The Righteous and the Wicked

Which one are you?

“Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” -Mal 3:18 (KJV)

Many people today view the Lord God Almighty as an indulgent heavenly grandfather that is impervious to their actions and pretty much approves of all they do. Many take for granted His mercy, grace, and love and think these are the only characteristics of our God. Many think His love is boundless and limitless and will reward all for their ‘goodness’ opening the gates of heaven to all who just live a good life. Many feel and act like there are no consequences for their sin for they have not been taught the real Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Even our clergy hides the truth and shuts up the Kingdom of God from the masses. This is absolutely not the truth found in His word, in scripture. Many preachers today do not preach the truth found in the doctrine of the godliness of the Lord (1 Tim 6:3-5), and, in fact, they are preaching a false doctrine and therefore a false Gospel. Yes, I know, hard words but nevertheless the truth. Read God’s word yourself and find out what He says (i.e. Jer 7).

According to the Word of God – the Bible – there are just two kinds of people in God’s eyes, just two represented in scripture:  the righteous and the wicked (ungodly), the saved and the unsaved, the sheep and the goats, the tares and the wheat (Mat 13:24-30). Make no mistake that you are in one camp or the other and cannot be in both or sitting on the fence. If you are righteous you are so by being saved – born again through the shed blood of Christ on the cross of Calvary. The wicked are all others. Yes, that is correct!  God sees us as righteous through belief in His Son or wicked in unbelief. The righteous person should flee any advice/counsel from the wicked and should not stand along side the ungodly. The way of the righteous person is 100% opposite that of the [wicked] mockers and scoffers of Biblical truth found in teaching prophecy and godliness. These are sobering, solemn, and tough truths and these are God’s words, these are His declarations, not mine.

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. … For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish” -Psa 1:1-6 (KJV)

You will seldom hear this message in church because most modern day preachers are afraid to tell people the truth, they are afraid to offend with God’s truth, from His word. Hence, many people do not know that they are either living a righteous life, one of daily confessing and repentance of their sin, or living as a wicked, ungodly person who has claimed friendship with this world and therefore has become an enemy of God (James 4:4). Yes, I know these are words that are in the Bible but rarely uttered for fear of making people ‘feel’ bad or negative. Jesus offended many many times and He made people feel bad because they were wrapped up in their sin. Folks, it’s time to awaken and know that when your name is called into eternity you will either stand with the Lord and be ushered into His rest (heaven) or be cast away into Hades, the waiting room before the Great White Throne judgment yet to come (Rev 20:11-15),  a judgment with a final destination of hell.

God views us today as either being righteous or wicked and not something in-between. We cannot fool Him. We have to realize this truth even though it is hard to swallow. You see God gets sick and will vomit those that are lukewarm (Rev 3:14-22) out of His mouth. Friends, please take these words to heart and realize that this is the truth of the Gospel and it’s time that we daily examine ourselves to see if we are of the faith. It’s time that we spend time with God, our Creator, and really get to know Him so our lives can be a reflection of His love and truth. So we can know His ways and not traditions of men. And … the best way to know Him is to read His word and pray, everyday.

This has been a tough-love message but I have felt compelled to write it. There are many who will scoff at these words but you see I care more about human souls than patronizing men (Gal 1:10). If this Holy Spirit-inspired message helps someone realize the truth from the myriad of deceptions prevalent in our Christian world today and helps them walk in truth and freedom with Christ then it has been ultimately worthwhile. Seek Him people!

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” 2 Cor 13:5 (KJV)
