Bible Prophecy Commentary: Warnings –

Is God Sending Us Warnings to Return to Him! IMO, yes!!

“And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
7- And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.
8- So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
9- I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
10- I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
11- I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. ” -Amos 4:6-11 (NKJV)

It is this author’s opinion based on reading much Scripture combined with what the Lord has done in the past, this pestilence is a warning from God to return to Him. He’s done this many times in the past and according to Ecclesiastics, what’s He’s done in the past He will do in the future – this is nothing new under the sun.

Look at the Scripture above given to us through the prophet Amos. Examine what the Lord said. Could this be happening to all of mankind today? We need to return to Him in believing in and on His Son Jesus Christ who was sent by God, was crucified, died, was buried and rose again on the third day (Rom 10:9-10). And we must call on His name – that’s what this means. We need to live a holy life unto Him and walk in the ways established in His word. Are you a follower of Christ?

Finally, if we will turn from our evil ways, confess our sins and do a turnaround in repentance then He will hear us and heal our land – 2 Chron 7:14. I urge all that read this, whether you’re a Christian or not, to act on this today. You see we have no guarantees for the next minute and eternity awaits all of us. Pray that you may be able to escape all these things and stand before the Son of God – Luke 21:36. 

Please pray for your family, friends and yourself and claim Psalm 91. The Bible is replete with promises for the believer, therefore we must grab hold of these, believe in them and the One who gave them to us … God Almighty. Jesus came to ultimately pay the heavy price for the forgiveness of our sin so we could live with Him forever.
