God Sent His Son

God Sent His Son

Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34- And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35- And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36- Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38- But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. 39- And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40- When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? “- Matt 21:33-40 (KJV)

This is a parable about God establishing Israel as His chosen people and land and how they mistreated the prophets He sent to warn them of their careless and sinful lifestyles. Then after they beat and killed them He sent His Son, thinking they would respect Him. But they being evil and wicked in their greed, lust, and power killed even the son. How often do you think on this? What does it mean to you? Has life become so mundane, vain and repetitive that you have become insensitive to the reality of God sending His only begotten (Gr: monogenēs – single of its kind) son to the earth to save it? God – Almighty God. We have heard the scripture in John 3:16 echoed many times in and out of church but what does it really mean in our lives?

Consider then who Almighty God is – He is omnipotent, omniscient, majestic, the creator of you and me, the self-existent one and the creator of the universe and heavens. A God so powerful ordaining all that we see and hear; putting all particles of matter and energy into motion at His very thought and putting us humans on the earth for us to enjoy what He created. He also set the planets, stars and solar systems in motion. Can you comprehend all this yet? Then can you wrap your head around how God sent His Son Jesus (part of the Trinity Godhead) to live a sinless life, be rejected by His own chosen people, scourged beyond recognition (beat to a pulp), and then nailed to a cross for them, for you and for me? All this and He never committed any sin or any crime. So what do people in today’s world think and believe about all this? For most, I expect the same as the ancient world and with the same disdain as in the parable above. We have rejected Him, slandered and profaned His name and if He were among us today we would probably seek to suppress His teaching and rid ourselves of Him just like the religious men of His time wanted to and finally did.

My point today is to try and bring home to you the love and compassion the Lord God Jehovah has for us in sending His Son. A love that is not like ours; a love that is from the Creator of all life – a love so perfect that we can hardly comprehend its magnitude and depth but yet it is so evident all around us. He gives us His love without worldly tricks: no gimmicks, with no strings attached and with no hidden agenda. Moreover, consider that God’s love is first unconditional, meaning He gives it to us freely, yes, even to all of us sinners. His love is to all people regardless of their earthly status. His love manifested itself clearly in that He sent part of Himself to us (this is one of the mystery’s of God). He didn’t’ send an angel or a group of angels, no emissary, or no delegation. He sent His Son – Jesus Christ to be born of a virgin, to live a righteous and sinless life and then die in our place, providing an atoning sacrifice for our sins – past, present and future. You see we are all deserving of death but by His sacrifice we can all receive life for evermore.

Jesus Christ lived only to die … for us. To die as a sacrificial Lamb paying the ultimate price with His blood on the Cross of Calvary. He died so we could spend eternity with Him in heaven partaking of all the heavenly things of which we know so little about and which are unimaginable in our limited minds (2 Cor 12:1-4). Take a moment and consider these things well. Examine your own heart and see what Christ’s birth, death and sacrifice really mean to you. Is it just another Sunday phrase uttered in the course of a service or does it make an indelible impression on your heart and mind? Do you live it out and is your life a testimony to its reality?

If you are not saved and have lived according to this world’s value system, it’s time to change. Today is the day of salvation. See the Salvation page above for what you need to do to receive the free gift of God’s Son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. “

– Eph 3:14-19 (KJV)
