The Blood of Jesus

A few people are getting ready to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, this Christmas season 2013. Now some might say this is a pagan holiday, it’s not Biblical or it’s not at the right time of the year. Perhaps they would be correct but I would respond by saying it’s His birthday and we are celebrating and remembering it as we would one of our family members or friends. As with our current tradition, we give gifts to those we celebrate eat cake and ice cream – it’s a time of remembering them and their birth into our lives. Can I ask you then, how much more should we remember the birth of our Redeemer, Friend and Savior – Jesus Christ? But I digress and would say that for most, this season has become only a time of gifts and glitter, Santa Claus, family dining, football games, lights and long lines at checkout counters. However, shouldn’t it be a time of more praise, prayer and worship? After all, this is the King of all the Universe, our Creator, our Heavenly Father. But for American’s … I believe Christmas has become just another commercial buying extravaganza instead of the true remembrance of His birth.

So what is the true meaning of Christmas? During many Sunday services this year we will hear of the birth of Christ as related to us in scripture. We will hear of the Magi and the Manger, the Three Wisemen and the Star in the East. This is a very important time for humanity; God’s love for us was so great that He sent His Son to redeem the world through His birth, death and resurrection. But today, I want to bring another very important part of His life in focus (the true meaning of His birth), one that you may not think about at this time of year but oh so important. And that is the blood He shed for the remission and the cleansing of our sins.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” -1 John 1:7 (KJV)

It’s through His blood shed on the cross of Calvary that our sins – past, present and future – have been paid for. Friends, this is so important in the life of a saved Christian; I can’t but proclaim this oh so reverently and emphatically. Most Christians will not give a second thought to what this means in their lives as they traverse this earth. It has so many resounding virtues in our walk with Jesus that you would be amazed if you stopped for a moment to consider them. This time of the year is so fraught with the hustle and bustle of Christmas trees, gift buying and eating that we forget what His birth really meant to us. His birth meant His death and His death freed us from sin. In the OT, the only way sin could be atoned for was by the shed blood of an animal – Lev 16:30, 32-34, Lev 17:11, Heb 9:22. In the NT, it was Christ’s blood spilled for us that we are free from the grips of the Devil and the sin that so easily besets us. It’s His blood that cleanses us from our sin but also from the wiles of Satan and the onslaught of condemnation he brings against us. But we must proclaim it!

We are instructed in 2 Cor 10:3-5, that we fight an unseen war and our weapons are not carnal but spiritual through the pulling down of strong holds. It’s in this combat we fight daily and we must use all the weapons in our spiritual arsenal to fight Satanic oppression. One of these is through the Blood of Jesus. In Rev 11:22 (KJV), we read, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. This plainly means that we will overcome through the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) against the attacks of the enemy. You see, my firm interpretation of scripture is that by the blood of Christ shed on the cross of Calvary that Satan was totally defeated and all the powers that he possesses against a professing and believing Christian were and are neutralized. But we must proclaim it!

In the life of a believer this means that by claiming the power of Christ’s atoning blood we can defeat and pull down the dark strongholds the Devil tries to set up against us. This is extremely important to every saved Christian. This is a highly effective weapon we can use in our daily combat with his roaring, trickery and lies. Take time today to realize this powerful weapon and grab hold of this tremendous truth given to us to build our faith in Jesus Christ. Many dark and wicked forces are waiting to try and overcome us especially in these last days and it is with this spiritual ‘super-weapon‘ that we can obtain the victory over demonic subjugation, evil and wicked schemes, wrongful actions and attack. Take this to heart folks, it is extremely important in the life of a professing, believing and walking-in-faith Christian.

“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” -Luke 9:1 (KJV)

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” -Luke 10:19 (KJV)

For we walk by faith, not by sight: -2 Cor 5:7 (KJV)

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Th 5:17 (KJV)

Pestilences Increasing?

My Bible Prophecy Commentary – Pestilences:

Pestilences or diseases will accompany the calamity of these last days. In fact, the fourth – PALE – horseman from Rev 6,  carries this as one of his payloads of judgment upon mankind. This horseman is called Death and he brings Hades or Hell right behind him. These two will have authority over one-fourth of the earth to kill with war, famine, sickness and with the beasts of the earth whether they be actual animals or humans acting like wild animals. Folks, this will happen; God’s word is 100% accurate; His judgment on mankind’s rejection of Him and His Son – Jesus Christ is coming and I believe has already started.

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. 8- And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” – Rev 6:7-8 (KJV)

What Are American’s Thinking About Christmas This Year?

“Half of America strips religion from Christmas”, The Washington Times – 12/18/2013

My Bible Prophecy Commentary – America:

We don’t find America listed within the pages of scripture, that is, in Bible Prophecy. Why not? America has been a blessed nation since its establishment some 250 years ago. Fast paced, highly technical, freedom based, and a once God-based nation has now filled up the barrel with a cesspool full of immorality, unrepentant sin, rejection of Almighty God and a nation that has lost its fear of God! Hence the lost of the real meaning of Christmas for most Americans.

How many actually celebrate the birth of Christ in their attitudes, prayers, family get-togethers, thoughts or actions? Some pertinent sobering thoughts to consider this year and every day. In reality, we should be on our knees confessing our sin, repenting and amending our ways. And … this should start in the churches. Remember, John the Apostle, lived and walked with Jesus Christ for 3.5 years and what did he do when he saw Him in Rev 1:9-17? Fell on his face like a dead man! Is this something we should also keep in mind?
