Signs of the End of this Age
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." -Matt 24:12 (KJV)
What in the world is happening to and on this earth? Wars, distress, famines, viruses, sicknesses, weather out of control, earthquakes, terrorism, crime, peril, lawlessness, murders, and the list goes on. Why does it seem that these are intensifying with frequency? The answer can be found in the Bible, in the words of Jesus Christ to His disciples when He talked with them on the Mt of Olives before He was about to be put to death by the Jews and Romans. The apostle Paul wrote about these times in some of his epistles and we can find evidence of the signs preceding Christ's return from the Old Testament as well. Let's review some of these things we are seeing and will see according to scripture. Just remember there will be absolutely terrible times as we approach the events up to and during Daniel's Seventh Week (called the Tribulation). The intensity, veracity and velocity of these things will be surreal. You may ask why must this be? I will answer – it's because of the gross sin of mankind and his rebellion and rejection of the God of all Creation – Isa 13:11. Look at the list below for things that have happened, are happening and will be coming our way.
- Deceit, lies and deception by false Christ's, false teachers, false doctrine – lack of Biblical truth.
- Wars and rumors of wars – Psalm 83 and Eze 38 and more…
- Famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places – happening now
- Christian's (those who are saved) will be hated for His name's sake and many offended
- Because of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold
- Perilous/terrible times – men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying its power
- Men will not endure sound doctrine but instead will desire easy and comforting teachers and the messages they bring
- Many will turn away from faith in Christ – they will fall away in apostasy. Many will follow doctrines of demons that speak lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron
- Evil people and imposters will become worse deceiving and being deceived
- Scoffers and mockers will increase about Christ's Second Coming
- Men will hate one another and kill one another
- An Antichrist will arise with all kinds of signs, lying wonders after the working of Satan
- A False Prophet will arise and lead many astray to worship the Antichrist
- Many will perish because they didn't receive the truth but instead chose their pleasure in unrighteousness
- Many will rely on their idols of wealth, status, fame and continue to reject the Lord
- So God will send a strong delusion to those that don't believe in Him that they should believe wicked lies
These then are just a few things that will occur in the end time or latter days before Jesus Christ returns. So why are all these things happening to us today? Below are verses from the OT that sum up the end results but they are not good:
"And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy." – 2 Chr 36:15-16 (KJV)
"Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil." Prov 1:28-33 (KJV)
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it." – Amos 8:11-12 (KJV)
"For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain." –Isa 26:21 (KJV)
Friends, it's time to heed the signs of the times and wake up and get right with God before the things described above overwhelms people to the point of almost total spiritual blindness. Then look out! This is not a joke, God does not play games, this is not a Hollywood flick, God means business. He's loving, kind, faithful, merciful but also just. He doesn't take pleasure in the death of the wicked but would rather that all men turn from their wicked ways and live – Eze 18:23. He wants all to repent and turn to Him – Acts 3:19. So how do you do this – Rom 10:9-13. Seek Him while He may be found and you will reserve a place in heaven when you step into eternity. Turn away from God, don't believe in His Son Jesus Christ and you are already condemned and damned to Hell – John 3:18-20. Strong words – not mine but God's.
