Praises in the Psalms: Strength and Peace for Your Soul

Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet and a Light Onto My Path

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” -Psa 119:11 (KJV)

I absolutely love reading God’s word, especially the Psalms. They help to refocus my thoughts when things have gone nuts and they help me stabilize my faith in the Lord God Almighty.

Reading the Psalms is praising the Lord. It is so awesome to be caught up in worshiping the Lord through meditation on His word, His commandments, His testimonies, His statutes, His promises.

The world is going crazy now across all areas of our society, culture and nation and so we need an anchor to our faith and we need to continually praise the Lord through all difficulties, and situations we find ourselves in. And friends these kinds of things are increasing multi-fold [in the negative] it seems daily now. So when confused and frustrated and generally feeling down I turn to the Psalms for comfort and strength. I included just a few of my favorites below (I have so many). Please read and be edified and then glorify the Lord through your praise and meditation.

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” -Psa 19:14 (NASB)

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2- He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3- He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4- Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. …” -Psa 23:1-4 (ESV)

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2- He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3- He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. …” -Psa 23:14 (KJV)

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! 2- O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! 3- If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? 4- But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. 5- I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6- my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. 7-
O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. 8- And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities..
” -Psa 130:1-8 (ESV)

And there are just so many others that if included here would be quite lengthy to read. So please, take time today and everyday to read at least one Psalms and perhaps one Proverbs. You will be surprised at the peace that passes understanding you will experience and the joy that will flood your soul.

P.S. Please ensure that you are prepared for the tough road ahead physically and spiritually. The last days, we are in right now, will be filled with many perils. Prepare in your heart, mind and soul and also for your family with adequate provisions. See verse below – a “prepper” (if you will) verse.

“A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” -Prov 22:3 (NLT)
