WARNING!! Spiritual Famine in America! Of Hearing the Words of the Lord

No Fear of God, No Knowledge of God, No Hearing His Words, No Following His Ways

“Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.” -Hos 4:1 (KJV)

These days much of the world does not have the word of God (the Bible) readily available to them and they must in some cases hide their faith and their meetings for fear of imprisonment and/or death. In other cases, they are persecuted – jailed, maimed, or killed for their belief in Christ as their Lord. Some are even crucified for their belief in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I have heard of people in the Middle East: Syria and Iraq that have chosen and declared Jesus as their Lord even facing death and beheading (and they were) from the demonically-driven me – beasts. In South Africa, terrorists are destroying churches and killing whole villages without even blinking an eye. Tremendous torture, persecution and killing have come to our planet and it’s gaining ground. Men are killing men; people are blowing themselves up just to kill others. So the chambers of hell are ever-expanding – Isa 5:14 – to welcome them.  If you scoff at this you are not paying attention to what’s happening. Evil is advancing rapidly.

“For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish (very foolish, stupid) children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. -Jer 4:22 (KJV) (Emphasis added)

America on the other hand is living in relative peace and safety, but chaos and confusion is growing at an alarming rate. Just look at the political turmoil from the recent election; this paints a clear picture of where Americans are at in their faith. Yet despite tons of Christian resources that are available to all – i.e. TV evangelism, book stores, Bibles-a-plenty, Internet availability, churches, it seems, on every street corner, who is seeking after God?

Who is trying to know Almighty God? Who is diligently seeking Him?

There is a tremendous spiritual war going on in the unseen realm manifesting itself in a phrase most widely used in today’s society and that is “political correctness” (PC) and cancel culture. This evil re-engineered way of looking at life, religion, culture and people and is subtly embracing the world and is even more overtly snuffing the life out of America especially in Christian values and beliefs.

These evil tools are some of the fiery darts used by the Devil in a direct assault against God’s word, against His people, the Gospel and the Bible. It’s infecting America at a staggering rate. In our society, this poison has spread into every corner of our lives and yes, now even [covertly] has invaded our Christian churches. This has/is resulting in weak, defenseless Christians and social club churches that don’t seek God and don’t know Him. They have a form of Godliness but deny the power thereof – 2 Tim 3:5.

There exists a famine in the land of hearing the words of Christ. People don’t know their Bibles and are wide-open for every deceiving spirit that’s out there. And they are coming on strong!

FAMINE ALERT:  Churches Pass Out Koolaide instead of Real Spiritual Food!

In America the church pulpits today are soft, weak and ineffective lacking the teaching of the fundamentals of the Gospel. Christian leaders have watered down their preaching into a blend of entertainment and socialized rhetoric not even resembling what’s taught in the Bible. Grace and love are in ‘hyper-drive’ in these churches and for the most part, preachers deliver a carefully designed PC Gospel – easy to hear, funny, not convicting, non-engaging, and totally oriented for the culture in which we live. Traditional teachings of the Gospel are absent and jettisoned from their thinking – i.e. sin, repentance, Godly sorrow, hell, heaven, holiness, etc. You see these soft-touch pastors and elders don’t want to offend their flocks with the truth presented in scripture, so they butter-coat hard truths for (in some cases) personal gain. The result has produced “Christians” who don’t know Almighty God, with almost no desire to know God and don’t know the truths presented in the Bible. Our houses of worship have become houses of entertainment and fun.

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:” -Amos 8:11 (KJV)

They don’t know about the Lord and I dare say most don’t have a personal relationship with Him. Churches teach all around the knowledge of God – they have embraced post-modernism in their houses of worship. Distorted and dysfunctional interpretations of what the Bible plainly says are in abundant array.

They value emotional experiences over real faith-based reason and truth. Christian principles are twisted to sound pretty, non-engaging and not offensive.

Most go to church like going to play a round of golf. Play the game (sit in the pews and listen) then talk about all the ‘other’ non-God stuff afterward (drinks – coffee and donuts in the clubhouse). Then most are off to their favorite luncheon establishment with God left out.

Biblical theology and doctrine have drifted into a liberalistic array of Biblical interpretation and teaching. In other words, We think we know better than God. We think we know how to present the Gospel in a better way than the Bible presents it. How utterly foolish! In essence, we have moved away from God: we do not seek Him, we don’t read His word daily, we have little if no fear of Him, and we do not tremble at His word. That being said, we are in a serious famine – not a famine of thirst or bread but of hearing His true wordsHow tragic!

Deaf, Blind and Dull

For decades now the church and Christians have morphed into people who are spiritually deaf and blind and who cannot hear the true words of God. We have become dull and our eyes dim. Friends, we are spiritually starving ourselves to death. But … who sees this? Who can fathom how far Christians have wandered away from the Lord? Heck, we don’t even like regularly reading our Bibles and most of the time we don’t engage in serious prayer. Moreover, we don’t even like talking about God when gathered together. And who these days actually brings their Bible to church and opens it to read it or follow along with the scripture readings, if any are presented?

Can you see how we have drifted away from Him? But you know, He is always there with His outstretched arm waiting for us to return. Where are you at today? With Him, knowing Him, feeding on His word (1Pet 1:18-21)? Do you fear Him, do you tremble at His word (Isa 66:2)? Folks, the bottom line here is – do you really want to know Him … today?

Reassess, Reevaluate and Return to the Lord

Please, today, reassess your life, re-evaluate where you stand in and with the Lord while all the while reading His word – daily. Don’t miss a day, don’t procrastinate, don’t make excuses, and please don’t leave it till the end of the day when you and your eyelids are heavy and ready for sleep. Don’t count on other men/women to feed you His word; I plead with you to dust off your Bible and start reading it wholeheartedly and get to know Him now, today!

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings” -Hos 6:6 (KJV)

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24- But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” -Jer 9:24-25 (KJV)

“For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” -Matt 13:15 (KJV)
