When You Pray, Believe! Prayer is Built on Real Faith. Do Not Fear!

If You Don’t Believe What You Pray … Why Do You Pray?

“But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7- For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8- being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” -James 1:6-8 (NASB)

There is much fear in the world today. Almost everywhere you will find calamities that are shaking things up terribly. Why? These are the last days before the Lord arrives to catch away His Bride and then the 7-year Tribulation starts. Sin and lack of sincere repentance drive these days. So we as Christians right now must stand firm in our faith and pray. People are scared and many have been displaced from their homes, lost jobs, have contracted sickness and disease. The world is becoming a “hell-hole” of lawlessness and wickedness. For example, just look at what’s happening in the US. Godless America is rising from ashes of a nation that was once built upon the precepts, laws, and righteousness of belief in Almighty God. So, folks, we are in trouble and need God’s help. We must engage in combat faith and combat prayer.

Why do you pray? Is it the “thing” to do in the circle of Christian friends you attend? Are you just “supposed” to pray as a Christian? Or is it just rote and you really don’t expect the Lord God to answer your prayer?

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.” -1 John 5:14-15 (NLT)

First, in our prayers, we can’t pray anything out of the will of God. i.e. Praying so the Lord would give you lots of money. We must pray according to God’s instructions in His word. A good pattern to use is found in the Lord’s Prayer in Matt 6:9-13.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” -Heb 11:1 (ESV)

Today we live in a time where prayer should be all Christians number one focus. Why? For the times we live in present all kinds of distress, and turmoil, especially with man-orchestrated viruses. People are scared to death and are therefore easily swayed to accept the nonsense spewed at us from supposed medical professionals (note: I am not a medical professional). Mask wearing is ridiculous but it has promoted an atmosphere of fear and worry that troubles almost all people including Christians. Where genuine faith should be in Christian lives, fear has stepped in, in a big way. Why?

People don’t believe in the prayers they recite … or … they don’t pray about things at all. Faith is in the back seat.

You see, the enemy of our souls has built a fortress or stronghold of fear around many Christians and now they can’t gain any traction in their spiritual lives for this fear fortress has immobilized or paralyzed them in their faith.

Friends, when you pray, you must believe in what you pray for especially if you bathe the prayer based on Rock Solid Scripture/s. For instance, in this seemingly re-currant virus crisis, I have heavily relied on Psalm 91 as my anchor in faith to Almighty God to protect my family and our extended family.

Real faith must accompany prayer or your prayers and faith are worthless.

Do not let the Devil establish a stronghold against you that intimidates or diminishes your faith or makes you freeze in your Christian walk. Pray in faith and believe in what you are praying. For protection, security, health, peace of mind, for your family members, etc. There will be many obstacles when you do this and so you really need to put feet to your faith in belief. The enemy will strike at every part of your life trying to bring you down. Remember, fear, worry, guilt, and shame are some of his sharpest and poisonous fiery darts.

Stand strong in your faith and let your prayers shake the gates of hell, against the powers of darkness in high places that want to devour you. Don’t fear!! Don’t panic for the Lord God Almighty is in absolute control over your life and my life. He hears our prayers and will respond according to your faith. Consider the [Gentile] Roman Centurion in Matt 8, his servant was paralyzed but yet the Centurion believed Jesus could heal him. And as a plus to his faith, he knew he was unworthy to have Jesus into his home, so he said, “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.” Now, this is real faith and then some and from a Gentile no less. An example of what faith looks like for us.

Friends, don’t fear any virus or any disease but instead seek the Lord and let Him see your faith in action and then He will respond in His time and in His will. We must TRUST in His provision and will for our lives. We must not take this lightly for without faith it’s impossible to please Him. Do not fear!

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” -Heb 11:6 (ESV)
