Do You Tremble at His Word?

“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” -Rom 3:18 (KJV)

There is no power of the Living God in Churches anymore. If there was this world would be a different place or at least in the nations that honor and revere the Name of the Lord. Those who know Him and fear Him. Today’s Churches have a form of Godliness, but lack the power thereof – 2 Tim 3:5-7.

For many professing Christians their Christianity has morphed into a drab, dull, disengaged, lethargic, and mundane activity that holds little value. Going to church has become more of a scheduled task than a true worship experience with your Savior. And most go there to rest and some even dose and fall asleep. And most are caught in a revolving door of complacent religiosity. Most regard prayer and reading of their Bibles as just too hard and tiresome to do. The Bible has become just an ancient book that is just too hard to understand.

How utterly tragic!

Friends, if this describes you, then can I suggest  that your Christian belief in Almighty God has grown stale and uninteresting. You are caught up in worldly things more that heavenly things. And you do not fear God anymore nor do you tremble at His word. Perhaps you fear men more than God…

“But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!” -Luke 12:5 (NASB)

Many people are afraid of lightening and run and hide from the sound of the crackling thunder and awesome lightening streaks. Most are scared to death of an approaching tornado or hurricane for its force in nature can be destructive and devastating. As we have seen with some of the massive and strong tornadoes of late ripping apart the land in the US. But I dare say that many Christians don’t realize that the Lord created everything we see and hear and don’t understand that He has a loving and merciful side but also a terrifying judgmental side -Rom 11:22; 2 Th 1:8.   

“If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;” -1 Peter 1:17 (NASB)

The Creator God who established the heavens and created the land and oceans has almost no place in Christian churches or for that matter our own personal lives. Rom 3:18, above, paints a stinging and decisive indictment against those Christians (and unbelievers) who do not fear an awesome, powerful and mighty God. How can this be? What has caused this to occur in the lives of us that have for decades called ourselves Christians?

Friends, there is a straight forward verse found in Proverbs that spells out what is missing in this watered-down, milquetoast religion called Christianity here in America and other parts of the world.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” -Prov 9:10 (KJV)

Did you read that correctly? Godly wisdom is one of the foundation building blocks of mankind and that must be established in God Almighty alone through fearing Him. (Fear – Strong’s H3374, yir’ah meaning fear, terror, respect, reverence, piety, revered). From this emanates understanding and knowledge and from these we are made aware of who God really is and why He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to earth to save us. Without wisdom in the Holy, we are without direction, without purpose and have absolutely no realization of who Almighty God is. Hence the continuing collapse of this nation called America. And we are collapsing in almost every area of life and now at an extreme pace. Can’t see it, just read the news, the real news. Hate, wars, killings, scandals, chaos and confusion are gaining tremendous traction both here and abroad. Why? No God in their midst. No professed God in the White House or our Congress. He has been told to leave! UK is the same. Europe has all but ejected God from their midst. Hence the invaders of evil have come in unrestricted and now their/our society as we once knew it is collapsing into wicked darkness.

“For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; And Judah has multiplied fortified cities, But I will send a fire on its cities that it may consume its palatial dwellings.” -Hos 8:14 (NASB)

America and Israel were originally established on the Rock Solid truths of God’s word. They loved Him and followed His ways.  But today…  we have a plethora of churches with most that sit in the pews every Sunday, do not know God for His Word is not preached there either. They preach a diluted and socialized Gospel that does not offend nor challenge anyone’s faith. IMO, our churches are worthless. We would have a different nation and people if the true and real church would stgand up for righteousness throughout our land.

There is an abundance of the form of Godliness on display but no power present since it is denied by the leaders and people – 2 Tim 3:5. There is pretty expository teaching but no God in the power of their message. They look and sound Godly but most deny His power thereof. Lots of Sundayship show but no repentance. Heck, sin isn’t even preached, and the consequences of unrepentance isn’t taught either and friends, that means HELL awaits many! (Matt 7:14) 

Many put on their best and are looking good when they enter their church but most don’t know the God they are there to honor and worship. You see their lips move (sometimes) yet their hearts are far from Him – Matt 15:8, Isa 29:13. Many are asleep and just can’t be bothered to engage in worship of their Creator.

“For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word. -Isa 66:2 (NASB)

These are tough words to swallow and even harder to digest but nevertheless true. In your life, in your Christian walk, do you fear God? Do you revere Him as the Creator? Does terror strike your being when you think of the power He displays in nature? Do you read and study about Him through serious time in your Bible? I dare say, without question, that those who claim to be a Christian yet spend little time with the Lord in reading their Bible, in prayer, in seeking His face are just putting on the show or act of Christianity and there are millions of these kinds of people. Millions if not billions. (Do not forget the Lord’s words in Matt 22:14).

We cannot continue to ‘play’ Him as we may friends. We cannot continue to look good on the outside but are Godless on the inside – as whitewashed tombs – Matt 23:27. We have to throw off our fake garment of a fake Christianity we dabble in and put on Christ -Gal 3:27. We must take heed from the Lord’s words to the seven churches of the Book of Revelation found in chapters 2 and 3. 

Spend some time and study what He said to these churches. They resemble our churches (and people) today to a tee and they represent our lives unequivocally. Examine that we serve a serious and no-kidding God and He will tell those that don’t know Him or put on fake airs to depart from Him when they die – Matt 7:21-23. Can you even imagine yourself being a regular church-going Christian or even a pastor, being told by the Lord at the end of your life: “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matt 7:22-23).

Tday is the day to wake up from your slumber and STOP pretending to be a Christian!!! Instead, get on your knees and pray, ask forgiveness for your insincerity and get to know and fear (respect, revere and fear) the God you worship. Cast off your false religion. Quit looking like a Christian in front of your friends and family. Instead, live it, breathe it, talk about your faith, spread this Good News and read His word. Now’s the time, for without the fear of God you cannot know Him.
