Bible Prophecy Commentary: Pestilence –
This stimulus – money – is a temp fix only, a bandaide if you will and it will alleviate some financial concerns in the short term but what if this things lasts longer? And then think of when it does subside what are the economic problems at least this nation (US) will face. Two trillion dollars that’s a lot of money.
Consider 2 Chron 7:13…
“If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;” -2 Chron 7:13 (KJV)
Some will argue that this verse and the one following it were just for the Jews in ancient times. Nonsense! We, as born-again Christians are called by His name, therefore this applies to us too. So in this context, Solomon just had dedicated the Temple after the exile and was on his bed rejoicing when the Lord appeared to him and told him this. In essence be advised, as the days progressed, if the people would fall back into worldly ways and reject God as they did so many times in the past, He would afflict them with nature calamities and pestilences. This I believe is what’s happening to the US and the world. In addition, it is a clear end of days sign – Matt 24.
We have blatantly, rejected God, His Son, His ways, His laws, His word. We have clinged to the idols of wealth, power, sex, entertainment, and pleasure. We have provoked the Almighty and stuck our finger smack dab in His eye. Consider your culture, city, state, nation and church. Are people really worshiping the Lord anymore or is it all fluff and show? I say yes it is and now His judgment is being levied on us.
But … there is a way for it to stop. PRAY, nationally, as a nation in unity, together and not throw trillions of dollars at this thinking this will solve the problem. In the context and times of the verse above as it was written the whole nation prayed and were unified to God. Then if they prayed, believed and did as the following verse outlined – 2 Chron 7:14, they and their land would be healed.
In the days of Nineveh, when Jonah preached to them on the imminent destruction they were facing, they repented from the top (King) down. Nationally, if you will. Then God’s hand moved and His judgments of destruction relented.
America – is no different today! The leaders of this nation should come together in national prayer through unity crying out to Almighty God and repenting of our sins and turning back to Him. Then, it’s this authors opinion, that He may stop this plague in America or any other country that proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and does likewise.
Please consider these words carefully even in your own life. If you have backslid into the world and cling to this world’s securities then your world may change drastically in the days ahead and you will be left with little hope. Instead, place your hope, faith and trust in God. Confess your sins, repent of them, cast off the idols of this world that so many worship, and seek Almighty God. Seek Him people … today. This is no joke, He’s not kidding. Remember, God too has a limit to what He will tolerate and condone. He’s merciful if you will but turn to Him in absolute trust. Dwell in the shelter of His wings and make Him your refuge – Psalm 91.
