Signs In The Earth … Are You Awake?
“But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:36 (ESV)
The days in which we live now are becoming more and more perilous. Whether it be through hate for one another and the darkness that brings or through the increasingly dangerous weather and natural calamities seen across the globe, something is very wrong. So what is it?
The Bible clearly defines this time, which seems to be upon us, in various Scriptures but the big questions are … are you knowing what to watch for, and are you praying? Will you be ready to stand before the Son of Man?
If you are taking a trip somewhere, let’s say in your car, what do you see as you approach your destination? Road signs get more frequent as you get closer to your target location. Well, it’s similar in the realm of God’s signs. They will increase in intensity and frequency as we get closer to His return. And friends, IMHO, this is happening now. All over the planet, we see these signs, some mainly in the weather as nature is one of the ways God speaks to mankind (i.e. Noah’s time, Sodom and Gomorrah, Korah rebellion, Pompeii, etc). So are we watching and listening for the signs foretold in the Bible concerning the return of Christ – in the catching away of His Bride and His return coming in the clouds?
“Watch out, stay alert; for you do not know when the appointed time is. 34- It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert. 35- Therefore, stay alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— 36- so that he does not come suddenly and find you asleep. 37- What I say to you I say to all: ‘Stay alert!‘” Mark 13:33-37 (NASB)
You see we, as Christ-followers (not Christians, since this is an overused and ambiguous term these days) cannot afford to be apathetic or lethargic in our faith that God’s word is true … all of it … 100%. This means He’s coming back as He told us He would and according to His word terrible things will happen before He does return. Why? Because mankind has rejected His Son and rebelled against His laws. Proving time and time again people just plain don’t want Him for they are unrepentant sinners not even seeking His grace, love, and mercy.
Folks, the writing is on the wall like it was for King Belshazzar in the time of the prophet Daniel. It’s on the wall for broadcasting to the world that we may very well be in the throws of the very last days. Yet people refrain from seeing it, yes even those Christians that go to church every week, sometimes even twice. (Remember, church attendance does not guarantee you entrance to His rest).
The world is seeing right now a drastic increase and ferocity of volcanoes spewing columns of smoke miles high in the sky (Joel 2:30; Acts 2:19). Violence is off the charts, wars and rumors of war are ever-increasing. Megadrought in the western US, wildfires all over with almost a million wildlife critters perishing, the magnetic north pole has been moving so fast scientists are alarmed, viruses both to animals and humans increasing, freakishly cold weather breaking out all over with the sun behaving very abnormally and more. So what’s going on? Read Luke 21:11…
“There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven..” Luke 21:11 (ESV)
That word “terrors” refers to natural disasters of all kinds and friends these things are upon us now. So what do we do considering all this “bad”, negative news? Let me speak in truth (something you rarely find today, even in our churches) concerning what is here and to come. It will be bad news and yes it will be gloom and doom. Just read the Book of Revelation and you will see just how bad it will get. Our clergy cannot keep hiding this from Christ’s followers with a “hidden” agenda to keep their pews filled with paying patrons! Note – not all churches are like this but a great majority of them are.
Now is the time to teach and preach the Good News of the Bible and the not-so-good news. God is a God of love, mercy, and grace but also of justice and judgment (Rom 11:22). Do you read His word or just rely on your pastor to feed you. If the latter, stop and start reading God’s word for yourself. Pray for wisdom in the events you see happening these days and stay alert to what’s occurring around you and in the world. As His return draws near, you will know by the “road” signs He has posted for us through Bible Prophecy. Pray and seek His face. Honor Him in your life and spread the Gospel to as many as you can.
