Death: Many People Don’t Talk About It and Are Afraid of It but Don’t Have to Be

Are You Ready For Eternity?

We go about our daily lives with little conscious thought of the concept of our death which inevitably will come. Yet we prepare for trips, vacations and excursions with utmost research and preparedness. We examine the plane fares, airlines or if by car, maps for routes and mileage and estimated gas to be consumed so we have enough money set aside. We wisely choose hotels and scrutinize with their reputation. So in all this preparation, we ready ourselves for a vacation that sometimes is months or years away or may not come at all.

But what about our death?

Who prepares for it?

Who talks about it or for that matter consciously considers it?

Who examines where they will spend eternity?

What’s the route, the path, the method, the choices? Who is ready for death that, my friends, can come at anytime for anyone. I myself was moments away from death many times during the past years due to a medical problem I didn’t know I had until I was carried by ambulance to the hospital for immediate surgery. I could have died easily due to the seriousness of the illness. But who of us today will even utter into a conversation about death or talk about it among themselves or family or friends? Who?

The pains and reality of death should not entangle any of us in fear. We should instead joy in the fact that one day we will see our God – Almighty God, that is – face to face and enjoy living for all eternity in His presence, in His home.

There is absolutely nothing more serious in each of our lives on earth than the reality that one day we will die and face the doors of eternity. We will stand at one that says heaven and enter into God’s rest or we will face a dark and ominous door that ushers us into hell where we will face torment, flame and fire for all, all, forever and ever eternity. This is no joke and there should be nothing that is more real and more absolute in our lives than this.

We will all face this reality but the question is are you prepared now?

The Bible states that is given one to die and then the judgment – Heb 9:27. The Bible is never wrong and always reflects the truth of Almighty God. There are plenty of false truths that infect churches and one of those is the false claim that there is a purgatory where you can work off your sin before entering heaven. Friends, this is a lie from the pits of Hell, from Satan’s own lips but yet today many, many are tricked and fooled into believing it’s true. The Bible never states anything about a purgatory yet there are millions who believe it and will enter eternity and their destination may not be with the Lord for they have believed “another” Gospel – Gal 1:6-10.

It’s time to consider these things like never before. With all the shootings, bombings, accidents of all types, extreme weather patterns, wars, etc, no one anywhere is safe from the throngs of death. It will take you and me by surprise one day but will you and I be ready? I will!!!!!

So how can you be certain of that, you may ask?

I am certain for it says so in God’s word. Specifically in 1 John 5:13:

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” -1 John 5:13 (NASB)

We can know and if you are a real, born-again Christian then you must believe in this truth. You must for it’s a matter of faith and not guess work. If you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and Almighty God raised Him from the dead, and this all professed from your mouth, then you will and are saved. Now there’s also a “catch” to this. You must confess your sins and then repent of them; this could be and should be a daily affair. You must turn from evil deeds and thoughts. Then you must continue to follow the Lord and live a holy life unto Him – daily! No excuses and no negotiations.

By examining these words today you should not be afraid of death but welcome it for if you are a Christian then you will know that God’s home in heaven awaits you and me. This thought adds strength, joy and happiness to my life. How about you?

Amen.

“Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:” -Heb 12:25-26 (KJV)

“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” -2 Peter 3:11-12
