“Sir, Give Me This Water…” Never Thirst Again. Living Water for a Thirsty Soul

What is this Living Water?

“Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14- but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” -John 4:13-14 (NASB)

Jesus on His way back to Galilee and had to pass through Samaria for it was the best way. He was wary and stopped at Jacob’s well. There He met a Samaritan woman who came to draw water. He asked her for a drink and her reply was you have nothing for which to draw water with. Jesus replied and said whoever drinks of this water [in the well] will thirst again but whoever drinks of the water I will give him will result in a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Friends, this is amazing and very appropriate for us today.

Many of us drink water or whatever all day long because we are thirsty. This is a physical need we all have but Jesus was talking about the spiritual thirst that many overlook. Every day we know deep in our soul that there is an eternal Supreme Being – God. Our souls are restless and searching for something that will fill the gaping hole in our spiritual fabric that longs for Almighty God. The bottom line is that we are drying up spiritually trying to satisfy that desert of dryness with worldly things such as drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality therefore trying exceeding hard to rationalize away this invisible longing for Yahweh God. This is futile and without the Living Water Jesus will give us, we exist in a spiritual drought and will eventually die in our sins. We all need this Living Water no matter who we are or where we’re located. Jesus will give us His Living Water but we must ask for it and then live in it.

Jesus promised that those who would drink from Him – drink in spiritual water – would reap eternal life unto salvation. Folks, if your life is stale and dry, routine and mundane, lacking in joy, living in fear of death, then you need a fresh intake of the Lord’s Living Water that only Jesus Christ can provide. His truth, His word, His presence, His joy, His salvation all make up this Living Water.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life” -John 6:63 (NASB)

But how do you drink it?

You must be born again to drink and be satisfied with His Living Water. He will become your Savior and also the Lord of your life. Scripture says that:

““Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the waters; and you without money, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost!” -Isa 55:1 (HCSB)

You don’t need any money … for it’s free! You only need to come ready to receive through belief in Jesus as the only Son of God. That through His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary you can receive forgiveness for your sins and eternal life. But you have to do something. First, believe in Him as God’s only Son, then confess and repent of your sins. And through these things you are creating a personal relationship with the Lord that will continue in eternity. He gives us His word to eat and drink spiritually which feeding our soul with an endless supply of His Living Water unto eternal life.

He offers us the wells of salvation in Him. Friends, it’s time to get excited about knowing the Lord. Is He your song today? Do you draw up spiritual water for your soul so you will never thirst again? How often to you read His word – the Bible?

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 3- Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” -Isa 12:2-3 (NASB)

It’s time to immerse yourself in God’s word. Read it, study it, know it. Ask for His wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Then He will fill you with Living Water that will never run dry. But you must pray and seek Him daily. Not once a week and then half-hearted. Not just in church. All the time. We can live without water in the physical for about 3 days and then we are history. In the spiritual, without the Lord’s Living Water, we are eternally dead and will never see His kingdom.

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” -John 6:63 (KJV)

Where are you at today. Do you want this Living Water from the wells of His free gift of salvation? So now before you die can you positively and without wavering say you’ll be with Him in paradise?  Remember, you can be rich in this world: nice big house, wealthy, nice cars and very well paying jobs but without Christ’s Living Water you have nothing. Please consider these things carefully for eternity is at stake here. Are you still thirsty for worldly things or are you thirsty for the living words Jesus speaks in His word – His Living Water?
