Bible Prophecy Commentary: More Weather Warnings?
One of God’s ways is in the whirlwind (Nahum 1:3; Job 38:1; Prov 1:27; Jer 30:23; Psa 77:18). So the question that begs an answer is, “Is He in the storms that have blasted the US since Aug 21st, 2017”? I say a resounding , “Yes”.
He is, IMO, warning us to get right with Him ASAP! Remember ancient Nineveh? The Assyrian’s were known for their cruelty, barbarism and terrorism. They were a tough, strong and prosperous nation until the time just before Jonah the prophet arrived. They were the ancient Assyrians the originators of terror and the inventors of extreme terrorism. They warred among other nations every year but in the year Jonah came on the scene they were all but powerless from the disasters that preceded Jonah. Earthquake, total solar eclipse, a civil war and a major plague. Then a second plague hit so by the time Jonah arrived preaching repentance they were ready to do so and they did. (Remember, Jonah said repent or in forty days you will be destroyed). Hence, Almighty God relented of His judgment and destruction of Nineveh.
So now what’s happening in America and the rest of the world right now? Same things…? Yep. America has been warned again and again; so is America repenting from the top down? From the White House down to the people of everyday America? I say nope! So what’s next? Only God knows but I think He is being oh so merciful and longsuffering. But folks, His patience has a limit and perhaps we are close to this limit being reached. He has shown us the warnings similar to Nineveh – they heeded and were not destroyed. How about America …? You see or hear any cries of repentance in or out of churches? I don’t!
Recall some 100 years later the prophet Nahum came and preached the same as Nineveh because they reverted back to its previous wicked and evil state. They told Nahum to get lost and would not listen to his message of repentance. Some 50 years later, Nineveh was overthrown and destroyed. What’s the message here? Get right with God, repent and turn from your evil ways, turn back to God in holiness and righteous living. Seek the face of God.
Now what will happen to America? Time will tell but this author thinks judgment has been ordained and destruction of this once great and mighty nation may come sooner than anyone thinks. i.e. Iran, China, Russia and NKorea are all biting at the bit to take us out. Keep watch and get right with God now, today.
Consider these verses from the Book of Jonah:
“And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
2- Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
3- So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days’ journey.
4 -And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
5- So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
6 -For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
7- And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
8- But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
9- Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?” -Jonah 3:1-9 (KJV)
