Bible Prophecy Commentary – Pestilences:
We are warned that in the days leading up to the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ there will be pestilences across the globe. There have been many infectious and deadly diseases in the past but I suppose none so deadly as the Black Death or more commonly known as the ‘Plague’ which devastated Europe in the middle of the 14th century and killed an estimated 75-200 million people. Was this a precursor of things yet to come?
“And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” -Luke 21:11 (NKJV)
Yet we know that the Lord says in His word that pestilences will come before His arrival (WHO). The fourth seal broken reveals the Pale horse that carries as a part of his judgment payload ‘pestilences’ or wild beasts. Could these be in the form of men, and/or microscopic beasts contained in viruses and bacteria? I think we will see sooner than many think. But the main concern here is not what is here and what will come but are you ready in your faith and trust in Almighty God (of the Bible, that is) to see you through? Some sobering thoughts that demand sober thinking and careful consideration.
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh … Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” -Luke 21:28, 36 (KJV)
Keep alert, keep watch, keep your eyes on Israel and keep in prayer.
