My Bible Prophecy Commentary:

You may read below and ask, “Why is he quoting from this Book of Jasher? What is this book?“. The Book of Jasher is an extra-Biblical book and not in the official Protestant cannon of the Bible. It is however referenced in Josh 10:13 and in 2 Sam 1:18-19. The Book of Jasher is not deemed inspirational but more historical in the context of understanding Old Testament times.  Please realize that it is not Holy Scripture and is only to be used as a tool to aid in comprehending Biblical history. Note what it says, however, about the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. It seems the judges in S&G at that time contributed to the wickedness and injustices done, especially to strangers on the racks (beds) that were set up,  which contributed to the massive sin causing God’s hand of judgment to befall the cities. Applicable and similar to America today with rulings that have been issued in recent days and months…? You decide.

Book of Jasher, Chapter 19

“1 And the cities of Sodom had four judges to four cities, and these were their names, Serak in the city of Sodom, Sharkad in Gomorrah, Zabnac in Admah, and Menon in Zeboyim.

2 And Eliezer Abraham’s servant applied to them different names, and he converted Serak to Shakra, Sharkad to Shakrura, Zebnac to Kezobim, and Menon to Matzlodin.

3 And by desire of their four judges the people of Sodom and Gomorrah had beds erected in the streets of the cities, and if a man came to these places they laid hold of him and brought him to one of their beds, and by force made him to lie in them.”

The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day.” – E. M. Bounds
