Spiritual Callousness

Most people I talk to today are impervious about the return of Christ and the events leading up to this great and awesome time. People just don’t seem to care about the times in which we live unless of course their cable or satellite TV is interrupted or they can’t get to their favorite social media sites. Many are consumed by the things that don’t look like the idols we’ve seen in text books – lifeless figurines – but nevertheless are when you consider the time they devote to using them. The items I speak of are smart phones – tablet computers – regular computers – TVs to name just a few. When you spend the most of your time shackled to these things, they become idols and in effect you are worshipping them instead of the living God. Think about it. Also, listed in scripture are the idols of the heart – things like pride, fame, attitudes, and self-sufficiency. Are you guilty of promoting these things in your life as idols and worshipping them instead of the God of the Bible?

All these things and all this stuff that deters you from worshipping the Creator of the Universe – God – produces what I call spiritual callousness in your spirit and in your soul. The human spirit then becomes like a callous to the things of God – prayer, fasting, worship, repentance. This applies to Christians as well as to unbelievers. Why is this happening? We are in the latter days prophesied in the OT and the NT, and mankind will become more self-centered and filled with pride and lust, boastful, arrogant, ungrateful, unholy and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -2 Tim 3:1. Folks, this is happening now with more fervor than ever before.

Noah, I am sure, experienced the same mood of mankind before their destruction. Noah warned them and God gave them much time to return to Him – 2 Pet 2:5, Heb 11:7, and 1 Pet 3:20. Knowing all this the big question is – where are you at today? Is your heart hardened to the truths of God in these last days? Do you scoff when others say these are the latter days and the terrible things happening in the weather, crime, rampant killings, government corruption, poverty, disease, famine, wars and rumors of war, earthquakes, etc. are evidence that proves Bible Prophecy?

God is giving mankind much time to repent and call on the name of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Have you called on Him? Or is your heart so callous that you can’t hear His call or even humble yourself to call on Him? Please while there is still time, call on the name of Jesus and confess Him as your Lord and Savior. You don’t know if today will be your last here on earth, no one is given any guarantee of a length of days or years so I urge you to be ready to meet Jesus when you step into eternity. Read Acts 2:21 with Rom 10:9-13

“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?”

2 Peter 3:11-12
