Gehazi

Peaked into the Unseen World

Read – 2 Kings 6:8-23

Who or what is a Gehazi? Gehazi was Elisha's servant and he saw some tremendous sights into an unknown world. Please take some time and read the scripture text referenced above.

The army of Aram or Syria was sent by their king to get Elisha, they came by night and surrounded the city of Dothan where they were currently residing with horses and chariots. When Elisha's servant awoke in the morning he looked outside and the sight most likely startled him – an army encamped around them. He was scared, to say the least, and immediately reported it to his master – Elisha.

Elisha, a powerful and anointed prophet of God calmly answered Gehazi's question by saying, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."  Wow! That was profound. Place yourself in this situation – what would be your thoughts? And here is were it gets personal for you and the circumstances you face. In the supernatural realm there are tremendous battles taking place – battles for your soul, battles for prayer needs, battles to take away your salvation, battles designed to defeat and crush you. But just remember and let this assure you of who you are exactly and what power stands before, behind and to the sides of you – spiritual forces from the host of heaven directly by Jesus Christ standing ready to defeat your foe. You need only believe and trust in God's divine providential protection and help. He stands ready with chariots of fire, if needed.

Are you ready in your faith at all times to sense the presence of God's host or are you like Gehazi who was not aware of the spiritual host and became fearful of what he saw in the natural? Remember, we walk by faith and not by sight – 2 Cor 5:7. Keep this OT story in mind the next time you feel overwhelmed at what this world is ready to throw at you. Walk by faith and not by your sight.

"Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"
